I worked at Baker Tilly International (More than 8 years)
Pros
The technical training is very good, the work-life balance is okay, decent salary and pension structure. There are plenty of opportunities for the right people.
Cons
The management team do not appear to have any understanding of what makes the average employee tick with regards to motivation. You are just a number and if you are in an office that is taken over by Baker Tilly there isn't much regards for the impact is has on people.
Advice to Management
Treat people as individuals, listen to their concerns. Look out for the people that don't always shout the loudest - sometimes they have potential too.

I worked at Baker Tilly International full-time (More than a year)
Pros
I enjoyed the craic in the office. Great people to work with ...when there was work to do. Plenty of time sitting around doing nothing when things were quiet.
Cons
Uneven workload. Unrealistic expectations. Being promised things then having them taken away.
Advice to Management
People are not commodities. Work is but one element of life, an element that pays the bills. Snide incentives to stay always backfire (e.g. delayed bonus payments)
Pros
great place to work etc
Cons
pay not enought, nice office
Advice to Management
be nice, work hard
Pros
There is very good career progression opportunties within the company and there is also impressive salary growth.
The excellent pension plan is an added bonus.
Cons
The recording of time by units can at times be a slight pain, however this is consistent with all other accountancy firms within the industry.
Advice to Management
There is potential possibility of winning clients from the big four as well as the focus on owner managed businesses.
Pros
good environment for the whole firm
Cons
over time and have businesstrips
