I have been working at Baker Tilly International full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    1) Good exposure to companies in various industries, such as construction, manufacturing, fund management, etc.
    2) See the whole picture, ie. from the planning to the completion stage, at associate or senior associate level, which is not the case in Big 4. (at least this is what happened for me)
    3) Friendly and helpful colleagues, and some managers
    4) Partners welcome staff to discuss audit issues with them
    5) Just started using Caseware this year, will definitely improve the process of rolling AWP in future.

    Cons

    1) No work life balance
    2) Engagement assignments allocation need improvement. Some staff are overworked, while others are quite free.
    3) Lack of staff benefits, such as only staff who are taking SQP will get full subsidy. Those who are studying ACCA or CPA will have to fork out their own money.
    4) Lack of team bonding activities, feel like all work and no play.
    5) Recently increased senior's notice period from 1 to 2 months together with salary adjustment, without advance notice
    6) Before the implementation of Caseware, need to print the AWPs, which wasted lots of papers.

    Advice to Management

    1) Improve staff benefits. At least give partial subsidies to those studying ACCA and CPA.
    2) Buy more fans, as there is no air-con during weekends.
    3) Organise more internal team bonding activities, which are not too expensive.

    Pros

People are nice and willing to teach. Office politics, while present, are not a major issue.

Below market rate salary. Excessively long hours, I'm talking some 4am days. HR doubled our notice period to 2 months, from 1 month that was stipulated in our employment contract.

    Advice to Management

    Honour the employment contract
