Pros

Very flexible environment to work in. Great benefits of getting half days every month and one late start/early leave per month. The parties are always really good fun and there is quite a big drinking culture.

Cons

Very little to no communication between the teams and between the senior managers and others. There is a big divide between those on the profit share system and those who are not. Those who are not on it get discretionary bonuses which fluctuate massively in value and do not reflect truly how individuals have billed. The managers have no training as managers as they inherited their positions due to seniority which has obvious problems.

Pros

Good hours, can take 2 hour lunches, no KPI's, minimal supervision

Cons

No transparency, very bad bonuses unless you're on profit share, old boys' club mentality

Pros

Half days are great as well as monthly late start/early finish and Christmas parties are a laugh but is that enough?.

Cons

I worked here for 3 years. Very strong “old boys” ethos, the concept of profit share and how the company is run was successful 10 years ago+ but now is extremely out dated. Profit share target was high, yet majority of people on profit share failed to hit anywhere near this annual target (with no consequences) which was demotivating. Team managers had inherited positions but had no training or ability. “Discretionary” bonuses meant no structure (failed to be explained when questioned) and were handed out on a favouritism basis. Office unnervingly quiet. No examples of BD from senior staff. Communication is exceptionally poor. No migration between international offices. Barclay Simpson’s ethos of a relaxed environment is no longer a unique concept in the recruitment world, if you are looking for a similar environment and want to progress and truly succeed in your market with inspirational managers, then I would suggest looking elsewhere. Any positive comments left here are all from senior management.
