I worked at Barclays full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Mid-tier banking team. Information technology, office support, graphics are all pretty competent. Plenty of Parking. Close to downtown Palo Alto. Most of the junior bankers are nice people. Recruits from top schools.

    Cons

Very long hours. Training is difficult as that happens in New York. Top people tend to leave for greener pastures (better banks, buy side, corporates, etc).

I worked at Barclays full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I-banking at Barclays wasn't as cutthroat as it would be at GS, MS, JPM, or DB.

    Cons

The pay was worse and the hours still sucked. You also didn't get on the truly interesting or noteworthy transactions.

I worked at Barclays full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Decent offices, good third party managers, weak control and non existent compliance

    Cons

Constant law, rule and reg. breaking, finra and sec violations daily is usa. Retaliation from management if you complain about it. Policies that screw clients of best returns and deliver false performance reports to clients

I worked at Barclays full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Looked forward to every day, awesome colleagues, support, clients and vendors.

    Cons

Honestly, none. It's the only thing I miss about San Francisco!

I have been working at Barclays full-time for more than a year

    Pros

In Menlo Park which is nice and quiet if you prefer a more family oriented environment. Easy drive to work. In the heart of Silicon Valley

    Cons

Barclays tried to regain an identity after Lehman's collapse, but utterly failed. Companies do not like the bankers, and the only attraction is the bank's large balance sheet. If you are an analyst looking for M&A or a heavy modeling experience, completely avoid this office. Most the work you do is pitching and it's rare to work on a live deal.

I have been working at Barclays full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Looks good on your resume but that is about it. Good place to work if your title matters to you more than the actual work you are going to do.

    Cons

Very bureaucratic and disorganized place. Lots of mediocre folk parading the little knowledge they have. Technology is really outdated, makes life a lot harder. Big time double standard when it comes to telling our clients how amazing we are doing but then your pay sucks. Admin staff is stretched beyond limits. Ridiculous cost cuts take away everything and anything that was covered. That includes no alcohol at "office parties". Zero work life balance.
