    Pros

    - WFH (Even before pandemic) - Great work life balance - Lots of support - Tons of benefits (including shares) - Competitive Salary - Path to promotion very obvious if you’re good - Very prestigious name to work for

    Cons

    - Some people are just not very good - Some managers haven’t a clue about management skills - I know it’s audit, but people are too cautious - Inconsistent salaries among same level staff - Very political. You need to know to play the game or you’ll struggle

    Pros

-Genuinely decent people, I can count on the fingers of one hand the people I have met in the 9 years I have been with Barclays that are unpleasant/nasty -Response to the pandemic has been great, great comms, good behaviour from senior leaders, great support forWFH -Probably one of the most meritocratic organisations I have worked for, there is work to do, but overall pretty good. -As an IT programme manager I have worked on some really interesting and valuable pieces of work

    Cons

-A lot of internal bureaucracy -Employee Facing IT Systems (laptops) are incredibly poor -More to do on internal diversity

    Good company

2 Mar 2021 - Assistant Vice President in London, England, England

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Very good employee benefits which would otherwise cost you many thousands of pounds a year.

    Cons

Very few people you’d look at and think damn they work so hard are so smart deserve to be here. It’s a large corporate so you’ll have a lot of ppl staying out of convenience and through their own laziness or incompetence prevent others from excelling at theirs. To progress you need to make a lot of noise about nothing, just boast about stuff that you’ve done no matter how small and insignificant it is. Chances are nobody really cares nor understands what you’re rambling on about anyway so they’ll all think it’s awesome as long as you make it sound awesome. Also depends on the part of the bank that you work in - there’s definitely a different culture in Investment, Corporate, Business Bank. Opportunities for career progress aren’t the same throughout the company, with some departments it’s easier than others. It really depends on how much noise you make and who you know. Rarely matters how you perform.

    Good place to work

25 Mar 2021 - Vice President in Manchester, England, England

    Business Outlook

    Pros

It is really good place to work with good focus on work life balance , yet with competitive salary and perks . Office in knutsford is really good with lots of amenties within campus .

    Cons

Once you are in , growth is not much and it leaves pay gap among new hire and existing long standing employees . Company should look to reward loyalaty . As with many other large org , may not suite if you want to do lots of innovations on your own and if you don't like breaucracy .
