Good salary and package. Good facilities at all sites across UK

Cons

Not Agile in what they do even though they claim to be. Like working in the 1990s again. Too risk averse to be creative or have a culture that embraces change. The Barclays way is to employ people with good modern skills that they think they need and bench you by not using those skills. Also very hierarchy driven no openess. Stay too long and you will become an empty shell.

- If you get the right manager who's trustworthy then you can learn and develop a lot. - People are generally friendly and most know what they are taking about in terms of their expertise.

- People management skills of managers vary a lot. I've been very lucky to have had a great manager, but than due to a restructure was my worse experience in my whole career, and you have to look out for some manager's favoritism to the point whereby it's detrimental to your own career. - Paid little vs. other banks and even other sectors, but constantly told by HR salaries benchmark well. So often feel underpaid and not recognised. - Extremely hard to progress and develop. Experience and eagerness doesn't mean much, it's more on if you walk the walk and talk the talk. - Like most huge corporations, be careful who you trust. And document everything to back yourself up.

The commute for myself was too much in the end, resulting in a very compressed working day.
