I worked at BetVictor full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - a few very skilled programmers
    - relocation package
    - international team, mostly from Spain
    - lovely location if you like the sun and don't like cold winter

    Cons

    - crappy office (it might not be actual as they relocated)
    - no training budget
    - boring tickets (tasks), very little impact and often 2 weeks long sign off process
    - online gambling actually works but gambling addictions can lead to serious effects. What they do has nothing to do with sport.

I have been working at BetVictor full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good possibility to learn fancy technologies like microservice, docker, redis, CI/CD, Ruby, NodeJS... The company is open for the new technology solutions, so you can try out yourself. Small groups, good atmosphere, cofee, tea, fruits, flexible working hours, PLayStation and team building events.

    Cons

There is nothing to say. Everything likes me, I am a part of a strong and good team and I am proud of it.

    Advice to Management

This is a very good company, hold the magic!

I have been working at BetVictor full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - very good work environment
    - great crew to work with
    - employer gives me my tasks and then leaves it up to me to achieve the goals = indepentent working without much over the shoulder looking which i like
    - very flexible in regards to time off and flexible start times (8 TO 10 AM Starting, from there do your 8 hours and everyone is happy, very good for when you need to do official stuff outside the company)

    Cons

    - sometimes a bit hectic when prior planning could have taken care of that from the start.
    - to many vertical teams which make communication sometimes a bit difficult.
    - not much chance of a wage rise apart from cost of living increase, if you don't apply for a new position internally/externally

    Advice to Management

    - try and keep good employees, even if that means a jump in wages (i.e. matching an external offer the employee received), it pays back in the long term.

    I worked at BetVictor full-time

    Pros

Lovely offices in the new WTC. Absolutely spotless, cleaners running around all day. Huge desks to work on, free of cables. They clearly spent money creating very comfortable modern spacious offices.

    Cons

Despite my role being able to be done from anywhere, there is still a huge "be seen at your desk" culture during core working hours. A strict 30 minute lunch break is just not enough time when Gibraltar is such a social place. In some ways the company still employed a very old fashioned strict working culture revolving around the hours and time of day you work. The focus should be on completing your projects and being available when required.

    More internal communication

I have been working at BetVictor full-time

    Pros

    - good learning and career opportunities - you can decide what you want to learn, what training or school you want to attend and the company supports it (if it fits your company objectives)
    - flexible and employee friendly working conditions and benefits

    Cons

    - there were frequent changes in management in the last few years, things are getting more stable now

    Pros

    - Experienced, smart collegues
    - Cool tasks and tech stack
    - Good benefits (more than average)
    - Company events
    - Free english course
    - Online courses and external trainings

    Cons

    - too high expectations toward candidates (no new collegues)
    - top secret recruitment process (only a few people decide if the candidate is okay or not)

    Advice to Management

Try to change the recruitment process. Give a chance to other collegues to participate in the interviews.

I worked at BetVictor full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great team with serious professionals who didn't give up when times were hard and are now reaping their reward. Best software manager I ever saw still holds tenure there.

    Cons

Some parasites still remain (no vacancies in MAG yet?). HR needs to build processes to get rid of these cancerous employees. Bad recruitment management and recruiter relationships.

    Advice to Management

Challenge HR; they are too complacent. Since all HR is related break them up and inject some external talent. Don't hire cheap rubbish; get well paid professionals. Beware of cliques forming and negatively influencing the office morale (e.g. the MAG portuguese)

I worked at BetVictor full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Working in BetVictor was great. Work environment is quite relaxed and makes relationships at work to be better. I worked in one of the sportsbook development teams refactoring legacy monster to microservices and I have to say the software manager and people in those teams were amazing, professionally and personally. I left the company only for personal reasons, otherwise I would be still enjoying working with them. Missing you guys!!

    Cons

There are companies paying more which makes a lot of people to get out of the company. Most of the teams would need at least 2 more members to be more efficient. Filters to pass hiring process have been quite high in the last year.

    Advice to Management

Try to get interesting junior profiles and show them the path to senior. Current micro services allow that to happen quite easily.
Allow remote workers, then you can hire me back :P.
