I worked at Biogen as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits, solid pay, excellent people. I had a variety of work to do but one major project to focus on, everyone was very willing to answer my questions and help me learn as much as I could. Other than some mundane/repetitive assignments and the horrendous commute into Cambridge, I have no complaints.

    Cons

Commute, work was sometimes repetitive or boring.

I worked at Biogen (Less than a year)

    Pros

Friendly, helpful, and collaborative work environment. You feel like you are part of a great team doing something truly important.

    Cons

As an intern, I would've liked more exposure to what happened in my department and others -- I was mostly just stuck doing my job most of the day.

    Advice to Management

Improve the internship program, specifically the relationship between managers and University Relations.

    Pros

Nice people, helpful when I needed help, all obviously very passionate about Biogen's mission to create medicine for those who need it.

    Cons

Pretty typical corporate culture, not much casual talk between employees

    Pros

Interns were treated well by full-time employees and given challenging work.

    Cons

None as an intern. Some of the full-time lower level scientists complained about lack of opportunities for advancement but that seems to be common in biotech if you don't have a Ph.D.

    Pros

It was a a fantastic experience. I was treated like a professional and was encouraged to challenge based on my knowledge as well to continue to learn from the other experts around me.

    Cons

I honestly cant think of any. Everything about the internship was a positive experience.

    Advice to Management

Continue to look at possible interns that provide a different perspective and background than what is already at Biogen.

I worked at Biogen as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Amazing culture and great research. The team leadership was great and the facilities were fantastic.

    Cons

Sometimes miscommunication was an issue and some IT problems. To get a computer set up or get access would take quite some time.

    Advice to Management

Establish goals early on with interns and recommend them to network with the company in order to make the most of their experience.

I worked at Biogen as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very nice work environment, employee benefit and work life balance. I felt deeply involved in the work I did. Great networking opportunity for those at the start of their careers.

    Cons

Sometimes the IT group is slow in solving software issues. That's the only cons I experienced during my three-months internship.

I worked at Biogen as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

People are extremely dedicated to their work and most people are very willing to provide you with anything you may ask of them such as career support or development

    Cons

As an intern, it is sometimes difficult to get a grasp on such a large organization that is continuing to grow. A more comprehensive introduction to the company would be beneficial.

I worked at Biogen as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Great benefits and work environment

    Cons

Work can be very boring depending on which group you're in. Lots of documentation.

    Advice to Management

None, the cons are simply part of the pharma industry.
