    Pros

    They hire and train people with little experience & help them to develop skills to be successful in their positions. It is great for the new person trying to obtain an entry level position Multiple programs to help maintain work/life balance. They are very firm on maintaining lunches, breaks, in and out on time. They have good, but not great benefits. Health care deductables and payments are much higher than one would expect for a health insurance company

    Cons

    Management positions are hired from outside In trying to merge a lot of changes are being produced in a knee-jerk response to align with Highmark, even though technology, staffing and products are dissimilar There is not much two way communication between staff and leadership in making staff impacting decisions. Many of late have had very negative impact on staff, have not provided a cost benefit and seemed to have been poorly thought out prior to introduction - again communication with staff would have at least brought up the concerns

    Pros

    Excellent benefits and equitable pay in a friendly, employee-oriented environment. The healthcare setting provides portable experience in the present employment market.

    Cons

    Management is very slow in making decisions. Customer/client facing positions perform the operational work, but personnel are not compensated at the same rate as senior management. The enterprise is adverse to change and slow to adopt process improvement.

    Pros

    It is one of the better jobs in the area in regards to flexibility with personal and family issues.

    Cons

    The executives of the company routinely preach how concerned they are about their customers and their employees. However, their actions routinely contradict their words. Thus, their credibility with both their customers and employees is virtually non-existent.

    Pros

    Challenging and much opportunity to make improvements and achieve optimal success.

    Cons

    Overly politically correct when convenient. Far too many interpersonal relationships, spousal employment, and overlapping conflicts of interest. Detached executive leadership and inability to see the reality and consequences of poor leaders.

    Pros

    Executives are very open about the direction of the company. Most people here want to do a good job and are good to work with.

    Cons

    Merging with Highmark. Will likely lose our culture.

    Competitive salaries, benefits and advancement.

    Cons

    Too much "home grown" folks within the organization. Needs to spread their wings and bring in employees from the outside.
