    Pros

Good benefits package but comes at a cost of putting up with people who are only there because of the package. They don’t want to work hard or help transform the business.

    Cons

The leadership is extremely poor and has created a culture of fear. They don’t listen to SMEs and treat junior staff like children. Total lack of roles and responsibilities generating an environment of confusion which causes a lot of frustration.

Culture driven by the bottom line treating staff as a commodity which they can get rid off. Always looking at restructuring (redundancies) as leadership are unable to forecast properly.

    Advice to Management

Senior Managers need to get the view of the staff as the Managers are suppressing their voice as they don’t want you to know how they are managing their teams.

You need to change the culture at a senior level and work through the various levels. There are two many managers, many of whom protect each other rather than deal with the issues.

Listen to the experts you have employed. Support them and allow them the freedom to use their skills.

Create an open and supportive culture that encourages innovation.

I have been working at Boeing full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Basic work engaging, products cool and Europe team decent including regional leadership . Job security as company growing exponentially. That’s all.

    Cons

USA Execs won’t release control, causes delays and poor decisions. Bureaucracy gone mad. Politics everywhere. Senior Executives are looking after themselves. Company growth internationally with typical USA do before you think mentality.

    Advice to Management

Regional autonomy is needed. Cut out the extreme politics. Empower people. Streamline confused processes.

I have been working at Boeing full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The Boeing Company is awesome, great ethics, great culture, bad choices in managers for programmes though. BIS is staffed by a great team of dedicated professionals led by rank amateurs that I wouldn’t put in charge of a MacDonald’s restaurant.

    Cons

BIS is very badly managed and should be avoided. The senior team is a bunch of sycophants that have been promoted well beyond their worth, the senior manager is nowhere to be seen. Bad decision after bad decision, with absolutely no plan or forethought. Zero strategy, zero ability to generate new work and zero ability to manage what they have. I won’t be here long.

    Advice to Management

You have a very competent team of people who deserved better than you. Do them and your customers a favour and move on.

    I worked at Boeing full-time

    Pros

Good company values at the high level. Go for zero safety etc.

    Cons

Ex-Army bods trying to run an IT operation totally out of touch with what's going on.
My boss had no idea of what I was trying to achieve professionally and just kept cracking the whip. Even if you're proactive to prevent escalation of problems, you don't get any recognition for it, so you end up working for nothing. I think you have to carry a 30kg backpack whilst working at a computer to gain any recognition. No flexibility with working hours and location was terrible to commute to in Bristol. Parking was limited. Split-site teams working in silos.

    Advice to Management

Its not enough just to talk the talk about how great things are. Get to know people at the coalface who are trying to make things better but not getting any recognition for it. Sales people bidding for contract work and not enough staff to deliver so they are put under increasing pressures.
