I worked at Boston Consulting Group full-time for more than 3 years

        Pros

        - London office is full of smart, interesting, hard working and fun people, many of whom have become good friends. You get the best of this if you join as an Associate - Diversity of cases means you learn a lot and at a fast pace (you'll never be bored) - Great Partners - Fun office events - Great opportunities for secondments, travel, leave of absence etc - Strong alumni network for after you leave

        Cons

        - Not a 9-5 job by any means but it is predictable and manageable. Expect to work long hours Mon-Thurs but leave by 6pm on Fridays. Very limited (if any) weekend work - Huge variance in quality of Project Leaders (first level of management)

        Advice to Management

        Keep it up!

I worked at Boston Consulting Group full-time for more than 3 years

        Pros

The people are amazing Feedback culture helps you improve Executive level exposure straight out of university Launchpad into other careers

        Cons

One bad review can count against you for a long time At junior levels, the job involves churning out a lot of PowerPoint slides Industry growth depends on selling more "Transformation" projects, which are less exciting to work on than the strategy projects promoted in marketing materials Work / Life balance is poor, particularly in the Energy and PE practices

        Advice to Management

Keep it simple - be aware of the internal / external brand risks from moving too far down the chain.

        Doesn't Recommend
        Negative Outlook

I worked at Boston Consulting Group full-time

        Pros

        - BCG is a good name to have on a resume - Good life/work balance

        Cons

        - Salary is low for the industry. - Job is insanely boring and repetitive. - No learning curve. The only thing you will learn is how to use some databases which is something very stratightforward anyway. - To make clear what your job will be: you receive short request where you have to find and download data for a requester, you then send them by email. That's about it, you are neither expected nor requested to perform...

        Advice to Management

Stop hiring people that are completely over qualified for the job by lurring them with fake promises about the tasks they will have to perform. No winder you have such a high turnover ....

I have been working at Boston Consulting Group full-time for more than 10 years

          Pros

Bright, insightful, and genuinely nice people to work with Top tier clients Broad range of project work Sufficient processes for most things to work sensibly, but loads of flexibility to "chart your own course" Staffing process genuinely takes into account personal preferences (industry, topic, travel), even if you don't get what you want every time Significant investment in building up expertise through the Expert...

          Cons

Work-life-balance varies significantly by region and practice area Complexity of new career tracks and implications of truly multi-disciplinary teams not yet fully appreciated and embraced by all partners & principals

          Advice to Management

Recognise more explicitly that the single career track consulting firm is gone, and invest further in ensuring that the multi-track model is successful
