      Pros

Get to travel the world and fly on airplanes every day (which is great if you're an AvGeek) visiting beautiful countries. Its a mix of short and long haul so the variety is always there Get to 'Bid' for trips you want to do or days you want off time literally flies when you're working and generally

      Cons

Working for a big company has its downfalls. I was made redundant due to COVID-19. You are viewed as just a number and they don't look at exceptional circumstances. Responses from management was extremely slow and sometimes non-existent. The management were also not interested in listening to personal issues if it impacted the way you worked. Basically, I did the job FOR the job and not for the company I worked for

Great company but the worst possible management

      Pros

The cabin crew team and camaraderie.

      Cons

Senior management don't value staff, you get very little or no recognition for a job well done. They keep making useless efforts to increase recognition but it never happens. Management just want to divide and conquer, bad industrial relations. From now on the cabin crew pay package is so poor: low basic, long hours, total flexibility so your days off are not respected. Their pay package was excellent but now everybody has a new contract with lower terms and conditions, lower remuneration and benefits. It is not a career anymore, it's a job you will do for a couple of years. Huge corporation and you are just a number.

We’re really sorry to hear that you feel that you were ‘just a number’ and want to take this opportunity to tell you that this was definitely not the case. At BA we do our utmost to ensure that our people feel valued – we always aim to recognise colleagues and all that they do for the airline. Your efforts don’t go unnoticed.

      Pros

Worldwide recognised brand and employee perks

      Cons

Employee are just a number to management. After working two years one thing I learnt is Management and Employee are two different segments of this business. Haven't seen any collaboration between management and employee. No matter how hard you work or how dedicated you are, you will be the first to be out of the door when things go wrong if you work in operation ! Like in this pandemic!

      Pros

On the whole, most of the crew were a joy to fly with. It is the people that keep you going in this job! Some great destinations and lovely hotels to stay in. Most team managers were lovely and tried to help you out if they could. Pay can be really good if you get a decent amount of long haul but rosters full of short haul can be really tiring and pay not great.

      Cons

Unfortunately due to the amount of employees you really are just a number. They do not anticipate you staying very long so the work/life balance is not great in the sense of it is very hard to get the time you need off (nothing excessive just the odd day off for a special birthday/event etc is really difficult!) It is always a gamble as to whether you would get this off. Sickness policy is extremely arbitrary and at times unfair.
