    I have been working at British American Tobacco full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    In general smart people and decent atmosphere. Pay is also good with higher variable vs other industries (up to 40% in my case)

    Cons

    Bureaucracy and politics at its best. Zero empowerment. Nothing gets approved without going to the boss's, boss's boss. In order to progress in career you need to show impact which typically means show off a lot, make sure you make friends everywhere and you pick a good mentor (yes, a mentor is mandatory).

    Overall tobacco industry (new generations products like vaping or THP included) are super mega hyper regulated which means there's zero freedom to operate.

    Last but not least and back to the first point, because of such bureaucracy, protocols and processes, everything is beyond slow. Takes ages to decide on something.

    Advice to Management

    Streamline processes and teams. Empower people. Remove the networking and connections way of operating where only those who make many friends will progress. Promote talent, empowerment and those who bring new ideas, not friends.

    Big family , easy to grow and always learning's opportunity for those who want to climb up the ladders
    Dynamic and provides different chances for everyone in different department to be well rounded

    Pros

    Great company culture, people are nice and friendly. You really have a good time.
    It's a difficult and competitive industry, so you have to find new ways to win in your market constantly.

    Cons

    Because of the regulations, the marketing activities you can do are quite limited.

    Advice to Management

    Focus more on talent.
    reduce politics & bureaucracy.

    You get to experience diversity and the company never lets u get bored & encourages cross functional opportunities

    Cons

    Very complex org structure with multiple layers. Sometimes you feel like process comes first not business.

    Pros

    Good money but that's about it. The new office is very convenient, close to public transport, spectacular, overlooking the Harbour Bridge and has an onsite subsidised cafe.

    Cons

    No work/life balance. The long hours you put doesn't compensate the pay you receive. No learning curve apart from the nature of the industry itself. IT technology is very unreliable and too much politics.

    Advice to Management

    Treat your employees as an asset, not as a work slave. Use the latest technology if you wanna be ahead of the game and achieve higher productivity.
