    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I worked at British Gas full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The company is good at Making decisions when required. Upside is that change is continuous but downside is too many short term decisions.

    Cons

The systems are quite poor with too many workarounds. They have tried to improve them but people do move around a lot so you lose the momentum. Would expect better from British Gas.

    Advice to Management

    Could do with less management

I worked at British Gas full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Relaxed culture, friendly, pay and benefits reasonable

    Cons

Relaxed culture means nothing ever gets fixed, broken processes and systems, everyone is a 'manager' but nothing managed well.

    Advice to Management

utilise the systems more, don't restructure until you're clear on strategy , manage change properly.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at British Gas full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good perks (office gym, bus shuttle to local train station, working from home flexibility, 4 day working week for parents).

Good working atmosphere and work/life balance (although working hours culture might vary between teams)

Good brand/experience to have on your resume

    Cons

Very frequent restructuring (once a year or so, depending on business unit) makes it difficult to navigate not only within finance function but overall across business, too many stakeholders with overlapping/not defined areas of responsibilities etc, complex matrix structure.

Internal transfer packages are usually lower than the ones offered to external candidates.

Obsolete/ incompatible software/applications makes reporting a painful, manual process full of reconciliations between one set of data and another and trying to understand which one is correct.

Poor HR, practically not involved in recruitment process.

    Too many management levels

    Advice to Management

Learn how to communicate difficult messages promptly instead of waiting for the gossip to spread.
    Stop restructuring.

"Lots of recent change, but getting back on track"

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at British Gas full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There was finally some recognition that BGB needed to invest in itself a year or two ago, and that investment should hopefully make a large, positive difference when it rolls out. Recent changes at the top means that senior management is really driving this positive change, and really want to do the right thing by their staff, and customers.

    Cons

All this change (including restructures and relocation of teams) has been very unsettling for some, which has meant a loss of expertise.

    Advice to Management

There will be some challenging times ahead, but I think you're on the right track.
