    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

The good agents that help you through your desperately depressing day.
The parts where you get to go in to not ready

    Cons

Unengaged call centre managers and team managers, no real recognition or empathy for their agents. Treated like you're a child and expected to right an essay every quarter to prove why you deserve to earn back a percentage of your commission they've already taken off you. A total different strokes for different folks attitude, no one is treated the same and so many team managers either hopeless because they are also miserable and lost interest or on the other spectrum of self entitled jobsworths!

    Advice to Management

Speak to your agents when youre looking to make improvements.... they're the ones picking up those phones every day and have a real understanding of what the customer wants! And, Contrary to popular belief.... pizza doesn't fix problems, or rubbish incentives, or compulsory voluntary work, or miserable managers in control of the place. No wonder there have been so many walk outs this year! Sad to see a place that was once an exciting and fun place to work has been run in to the ground by idiots left in charge!

I worked at British Gas full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Met some awesome people
Managed to get out without harm to my mental health

    Cons

    Where do I start?
    - constant fear of failing an audit that has no room for error. You can have an amazing call, but forget a tiny piece of info with no detriment to customer and you fail full call, told you've let customer down and then get micro managed for weeks.
    - lack of consistent messages across every department.
    - no pay rise
    - taking away benefits and perks
    - CEO making 4 mill bonus but staff being told "no money"
    - threat of jobs being outsourced unless we all agree to change our contracts
    - wanting staff to work over christmas
    - terrible work/life balance
    - upper management that refuse to listen but patronise they are listening but nothing changes
    - huge focus on sales and making money for company
    - not getting fairly treated
    - no respect from upper management
    - feeling like just a number, not a person
    - people going off long term sick with stress
    - terrible abscense policy
    - too many things to do on calls with no room for error
    - unreasonable policies for dealing with abusive customers

    Advice to Management

Listen to your staff and treat us fairly

I have been working at British Gas full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Everything issued from uniform, tools right through to van & fuel.

    Cons

Constantly micro managed regarding anything from performance to movements. Encouraged to give Safety & Efficency Advice on every visit which is actually attempting to sell anything from a HomeCare Plan to a Hive Actuve Heating System.

    Advice to Management

Trust your workforce - this will only improve performance & engagement. Consentrate on encouraging your workforce to deliver great results regarding keeping the customer happy and fixing the problems. The majority of customers want the fault fixed and you out the door - not given a full talk on upgrades, Smart and whatever else your planning to add.

I worked at British Gas full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There were no positives of working for BG I was sooo happy to leave this company,

    Cons

Awful management team that had no experience in managing people or even doing the job of the people they were managing

    Advice to Management

I would suggest ensuring all management are recruited from the teams doing the job or at least ensure managers know the skill of treating people with manners

I have been working at British Gas full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great work life balance at head office functions - Staines and Windsor
    Lots of autonomy
Good benefits and salary if you join externally
    Good people

    Cons

Poor senior leadership, a lot of them hide from their staff
Greedy corporate - take too much profit from legacy customers
Old school senior managers stuck in middle / senior management on huge salaries - they couldn't get a role externally but stumble by until they "get found out"
A major case of the emperors news clothes with the current strategy

    Advice to Management

Remember there is an energy business to run
Stop hiding from your middle managers
Work out how to use connected
