    I worked at British Gas part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    I was bullied mercilessly by my team manager for years which affected my health and I had to leave. Bullying practices are looked upon by middle or higher management as "if it works then good". Several years ago a national newspaper was running "A Great Place to Work" competition and British Gas were in the running. However the newspaper wanted the employees to complete a survey. We were groomed by the team managers at British Gas Cardiff to give the answers they wanted and made veiled threats of what would happen if we didn't give the answeres they wanted.

    Cons

    They care more about their customers than their staff.

    Advice to Management

    Yes you need customers for a business but you also need staff. Wake up to rampant bullying. You get better results if you catch flys with honey.

    Good training customer focused, same uniform , provide tools and equipment

    Selling , emphasis on getting sales and targets , not interested in how good yoybare overall as an engineer

    too strict , never aloud to use the toilet. constantly on calls , never praised when doing well. strict probation no sickness or you are gone.

    Pros

    Technology driven company. Used to be good company to work for.

    Cons

    The company is sinking, keep losing customers but make no effort to retain the customers. To compensate the profit lost, they keep doing restructuring and transferring their skilled employees to outsourcing companies which then outsource the job overseas.

    Advice to Management

    Find the good way to keep customers loyalty or to attract customers to stay in.. dont sacrifice your loyal employees to compensate profit lost because wrong customers strategy.

    Poor management, no consistency and salary lower than average with not many development opportunities given to the right people
