    Outdated and slow systems
    Lack of working together
    A lot of us and them mentality between teams and managers
    Your face has to fit to progress
    Difficult interview process
    Move from quarterly to annually paid PRP bonus payments
    No investment in staff training
    Unrealistic targets and lack of staff to complete goals
    Really poor communication throughout company
    Low staff moral

    Advice to Management

    Encourage a more working together process instead of teams and even individuals working in silos. Invest in your staff, listen to what they say and encourage progression within departments, recognize talent and improve staff moral. Update systems and processes, we are still using the same systems used 20 years ago. Communication is awful and scores low every year in the employee satisfaction survey, this needs to be addressed.

    Pros

    A lot of great benefits
    Tools, tablet etc all provided
    Was really enjoyable for the first couple of years
    Opportunity to earn more with standby and overtime

    Cons

    It used to be enjoyable...but it’s now just all about getting boiler leads etc and so much micromanagement.
    It used to be about fitting smart meters but it’s almost like the business is more focused on trying to sell products rather than meeting a mandate. Pay negotiations... we were promised a pay rise in April...it’s now almost a year on and nothing. The lowest paying company in the smart metering industry by far. Management don’t listen to the team and what is actually the issues out in the field. Also having to be in the van half an hour before your start time... unpaid! what’s that about? ‘End of day process’ which basically means instead of finishing on time, you finish an hour later. Other engineers taking advantage of end of day, which affects everyone else.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to the engineers, every year it’s the same things that get brought up and nothing seems to get done. The moral of the workforce out in the field has taken a huge dip in the last year. Something needs to improve

    Pros

    BG is a very enjoyable company to work for. The people there are great and it is a very relaxed working environment.

    Cons

    The company is currently struggling in an environment that has become increasingly competitive after the introduction of a lot of start-ups into the industry.

    Advice to Management

    Keep the current stability within the leadership team.

    Pros

    Good pay , good working environment, easy to progress in to other roles.

    Cons

    Horrible training, on job too many complains to deal with, your timed on each call although complain calls can take ages. Too many stats to maintain.

    Advice to Management

    Its not about stats all the time but customer.
