      Pros

-Clients are very impressive -Prestigious firm -Learn a lot

      Cons

-Relentless and punishing culture of overworking. No exaggeration to say that there is an expectation to be 'always on'- on weekends, in the evenings, when you're sick. A common theme among juniors is a feeling of constant anxiety and never being able to switch off -Some Partners/Directors create a hostile environment for juniors by being rude / uncaring / unsupportive / unapproachable. The culture is unpleasant -Very little sense of belonging for juniors -Onboarding / training is virtually non-existent

      Pros

      1) High quality clients and opportunities to work on various interesting projects 2) Good Chairman

      Cons

      1) Rampant old boys club, nepotism, and the most coveted positions and promotions are unfairly awarded to those with existing connections in the business 2) Poorly operated and insincere management & HR function 3) A culture of microaggressions towards BAME staff 4) Unless you're a Partner, or boast a vast network (particularly a political one), you are overlooked

Never work here, old-fashioned, hierarchical culture

Jan 18, 2021 - Account Executive in London, England, England

      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - Big name for CV - Good network of smart people (all Russell Group/Ivy League educated) - Great for making contacts

      Cons

      - Impossible work-life "balance", no freedom - Forced to check your phone at least every 15 minutes to respond to email - The first thing you'll do in the morning, and the last at night will be to check your phone for email or message notifications. The consequence of not doing this is public humiliation - Feels scary to be away from your desk for more than 10 minutes - Very hierarchical and privileged culture - You will be micromanaged by those at your same level/age group - Many partners have unconscious bias and this can make it uncomfortable for minorities

      Pros

Good access to clients and opportunities to get involved in sectoral events

      Cons

      - Very cliquey behaviour and bullying from those on your level and senior management - HR are incredibly unhelpful and poor support for junior staff - Nepotism is a big thing here mainly pushed by management - Ethnic diversity is poor, and its mostly all talk the culture is incredible toxic and micro aggressions are constant - Management don't like to be challenged, if you do they will put you on smaller clients. - common for management to be condescending - pay disparities with people on the same grade
