I have been working at Burberry for more than a year

    Pros

Friendly colleagues, inviting & welcoming atmosphere, beautiful location, building, offices & showroom working with beautiful luxury products. Great employee benefits including free lunches, fruit, tea & coffee, fitness classes, excellent sample sales, store discount & good salary.

    Cons

Use a lot of freelancers, not enough permanent roles especially in wholesale

    Advice to Management

To showroom management - Treat staff with respect & like your peers instead of like pupils at primary school

I worked at Burberry full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Sample sales & staff discounts Various opportunities to take part in project Great teams and line manager Good location Summer Fridays when team can leave at 12:30

    Cons

The BBS hierarchy is very flat - staff is employed as admins so that the company can save more money, but this leads to lack of progression opportunities Clear division between Leeds and London ( London teams have free lunches on daily basis yet Leeds once a month following clear dissatisfaction after employee survey results) SLTs are savings driven and do not care about high rate of staff turnover. They are happy to let good staff members to leave rather than increase their salary Company prefers to hire contractors and pay them more for few months contracts rather than utilise knowledgable people within the teams

    Advice to Management

Start listening to your teams and re-benchmark salaries as they are way under the industry standards when looking at roles and responsibilities of all the “admins” you’ve employed. Look at employee survey results and address all the highlighted issues ( salary and development have been on top in the past 3 consecutive years) instead of focussing on something that links to the company strategy otherwise many more talented people will leave. To deliver operational excellence you need to have great teams who know business inside out. If you want to save money then keep staff happy instead of wasting money on continuous recruitment and training cost that you could have easily avoided if the staff turnover percentage would decrease.

I have been working at Burberry full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - The office is in a prime location that is easily accessible, and the office is lovely (except the indecisive elevators and semi-permanent clogged sink). - Many of the people who I have worked with are amazing and put in a great amount of effort. - Free fruit and sample sales are nice perks - A number of training opportunities if you are willing to look

    Cons

    - Very low salaries that do not meet the industry average. - High expectations, you are expected to work beyond your remit and there is little reward or recognition for doing so - Some departments have a massive staff turn over, due to the reasons above, - Call centre-esque style of management, staff are judged based on how many calls they miss, the number of cases resolved or re-opened etc, senior leadership doesnt care about the why, all they care about is a percentage in red, this is then something senior management and team leaders are then under pressure to "fix", often causing strife in the teams they lead. - A problem that plagues Burberry is the lack of formal training and as a result many employees follow the incorrect process, causing many hours wasted by other departments to fix the problem (but hey, if they are dissatisfied with your ticket resolution explaining what they did, it is your fault!!) - Blame and shame culture is rife.

    Advice to Management

Start paying your employees proper wages, many of us enjoy the people we work with but want to leave for this reason!!! Stop breathing down professionals necks because they got a red percentage, somethings are not feasibly resolved or implemented in the absurd SLAs and KPIs we are forced to adhere to.
