I worked at Burger King (Less than a year)

    Pros

Excellent job filler or for school leavers looking for work experience. This was of course my experience in 1990 and things may have changed since then

    Cons

they did not have any idea on how to treat pregnant staff and some staff / supervisors required more health and safety training. This was of course my experience in 1990 and things may have changed since then

    Advice to Management

if you put 19 year old supervisors in charge of 20+ year old employees remember that they don't need to be treated like school leavers. Sometimes team members have hidden skills that can be utalised. This was of course my experience in 1990 and things may have changed since then

    Pros

Free food can be one, but not important, and maybe the possibility to be a manager in future in be a manager is one of your desire.

    Cons

People think small, just because burger king does not belong to their family, they don't work hard, what makes people like me with professionalism upset and feel bad, there is no worse think in that life then working with lazy people, I am working in BK in Canterbury and I know what I am talking about

    Advice to Management

Please, make better shifts for employees, they still humans, and keep your eyes on CCTV to see who is there working or having chat with free food/drink and have cigarette time every 30minutes minimum and also avoiding washing dishes, I mean people that just "like" to do easy job such as (preparing sandwiches) and say things like: Can I have nachos/chilli bites/Ham/Woopers etc down please?!

Please keep your eyes in people that help the company go up, not the opposite please, NO MERCI TO LAZY PEOPLE,

    Regards

    Pros

Free Meals at Lunch (Get tiring after 2 weeks)
Was close to my house but obviously doesn't apply to everyone.

    Cons

The staff at my branch were idiots, I felt too smart to be working there.
Rude management that offered me drugs on shift! Staff came in high on cocaine or weed.
Dealing with scummy customers that get angry for having to wait longer than 2 minutes for their food (it has to cook btw, you want food poisoning).
Rats near the bins and the fact they are open on Christmas day baffles me.

    Advice to Management

Don't offer employees drugs on shift. Don't treat members of staff who look older than you and clearly more intelligent sarcastic orders and jobs to do.

I have been working at Burger King (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fully flexible job, i went to university and could come back and work in holidays, only weekends or full time whenever i decided, I could get more hours if i requested.
    Free food is a benefit
Made a great bunch of friends
Taught me how to deal with difficult customers and being on till was a huge eye opener on receiving customer service and giving customer service. Till work made me come out of my shell.

    Cons

Bad pay, bad customers, cleaning toilets, being on your feet for long hours, co-workers come and go and do not turn up to shifts. Impossible to move up in your job unless you are friends with the management. People were not treated equally.

    Advice to Management

Management wasn't always professional but most managers i worked with were friendly and i respected.

    Pros

+ Could have BK food for lunch, a pro if you're into that sort of thing
+ Could swap shifts with other people if it was convenient for both
+ If you're new, they will be patient with you
    + Flexible hours
+ Piercings, tattoos are not a problem

    Cons

    - unpleasant colleagues - really creepy guys who bragged about doing drugs on weekends. Girls were friendly and nice.
    - dirty and messy staff area, management doesn't care
    - very small staff area, not even enough chairs for all people on a break to sit on
    - not enough safe storage boxes for personal items
    - not enough real training, we were even told to lie that we have seen some training video if someone asked (still have no idea what video it was)
    - communication from management to staff only through aggressive letters put on the wall
    - not everyone got full uniform. You have to hand in the uniform when you quit, someone then will wear your used uniform
    - if you are a cashier, you will have to clean the dining area and public toilets

    Advice to Management

The venue was simply very unpleasant to be in, it's actually the main reason I quit. It would make a lot of difference if someone cleaned it regularly and the floor was not filled with clutter.
