I have been working at Burlington Stores full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The company promotes peer recognition. It's rewarding to get a thank you note or see your photo on internal tv with some form of recognition. Not all retailers place a lot of value on this.

    Cons

    Cafeteria food is just ok.

    Advice to Management

Don't stop focusing on culture. It's improved a lot but more to do

Nice new buildings, growing, new people coming in at the top with fresh ideas. People are really nice to one another.

    Cons

Middle management and senior vps get in the way of new ideas and fresh thinking. a "my way" culture. Indecisive leaders. Hard to get things done.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the ideas of your people. a new way to do somethng might be a good thing. Let the peopel youve hired go to work for you.

    Pros

Technological enhancements at store level made the overall operations piece easier. Improved processes in receiving made getting freight to the floor a much more attainable goal.

    Cons

Very low payroll and strict staffing guidelines made it difficult to keep the sales floor set correctly and staff the front end.

    Advice to Management

increase your base payroll for stores so they can effectively operate their business. It's almost impossible to provide excellent customer service when you have no associates on the floor to assist customers.

    Pros

I like Burlington's neat and organized layout and presentation of store. The employees are very friendly and provide an outstanding teamwork atmosphere.

    Cons

Burlington would need to hire and schedule more cashiers for faster customer service rather than having just mostly one cashier.

    Advice to Management

To increase a faster checkout service, Burlington should have a Layaway Desk separate from checkout and pay employees more money.

I worked at Burlington Stores part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Easy, very friendly staff and some benefits. 45 minute lunch period. Gives flexible time scheduling to accommodate your plan.

    Cons

Minimum wage. Benefits are likely to be useless and minimal profit. 45 minute lunch is time consuming.

    Advice to Management

Hire a group of more diversity and allow equal opportunity for every emploee's advancemeny.
