I worked at CDK Global full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Good salary and benefits including remote working

    Cons

Too much talk and no action, there are always strategic plans that sound good but they are the first to be dropped in pursuit of revenue. Although you may have the title of Product Manager, you are just a feature administrator and strategic ideas are overwritten by tales from markets of the big win. The CDKI exec team are not aligned and some clearly have their own agenda which results in no accountability across individuals in departments due to the example set. This is evident in market teams, blame is always made to P&E, but they have hard targets to meet so the end result is a vicious circle. Previously a positive was always a great bunch of colleagues but in the last two years so many of the good guys have left for a number of reasons, including bad work/life balance, poor inclusion and lack of support. Unfortunately this means that we are left with poor leadership across P&E as a result of naive newcomers. If you are invested in a career in product management, this is not the place to grow further and the only reason to join would be for the money and a stop gap.

I worked at CDK Global full-time

    Pros

Benefits - and that's about it. You get hooked up to join the company cos of a great salary allocation and a range of benefits, but then you will soon realise you will use those to pay for your declining mental health.

    Cons

    - Unclear strategy: it keeps changing so fast and so often that people stop believing it, and that means noone works on it properly apart from those who invented it; - No training for newcomers: they are literally thrown into this boiling bowl full of unclear processes and constant change, where they can't do their job properly cos they don't even know what is expected from them; - Lots of ignorant people: there are 2 groups in there, one is extremely sweet and helpful, another one is full of it and won't go an extra mile to be approachable or for what it's worth, - professional; - Atmosphere of fear: there are so many lay offs for the last years that you have to really really think hard whether it's worth risking joining the company. Many 10+ years experience colleagues have been told to leave, and those who are left are in fear that they will be next and they are extremely upset about losing their friends; - Deceiving management: not sure if they are ever telling you the truth and whether they even care about your development. All they care about is meeting KPIs with all possible means, even if it includes sacking ppl and looking for new ones again, just for smaller salaries and for those who will keep silent like a mouse (usually hiring students works a treat).

The KCML language does not afford many long term career opportunities, but this is being slowly solved by phasing it out.
