    Pros

.Brilliant engineers who loved having a bit of banter and pleased customers.
. Christmas bonus and installation bonuses.

    Cons

. They do not have a paper-less system and extremely heavily on paperwork and copies which is not good for the ennvironment and did not recycle wasted paper or plastics.
. Poor management who did not enjoy listening to other peoples ideas or did not listen to peoples problems within the offices. Several times management took their stress out on other people. Installation manager changing installation dates without informing you. It was like they expected you to always read their minds/ have a crystal ball on your desk.

    Advice to Management

    . Listen to your team.

I have been working at CDK Global full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Still some smart people here, though their number decreases weekly.

Longer serving members of staff genuinely care about the products and the customers.

People who came from Kerridge have a good pension - I did and it's the ONLY reason I'm still here.

    Cons

There are idiot CEO's and there are vicious CEO's, but we are truly blessed to have a vicious idiot running the company.

Climate of fear. This has only really started to happen over the past 18 months, shortly after Mr Macdonald took over. Draw your own conclusions.

People just disappear over night. The big layoff in July was an example, but more often than not it's one or two individuals here or there that you only find out about when you try to contact them. This may be a contributing factor in the climate of fear .......... or it may not.

Good people, who have been given prominent projects to work on and opportunities for advancement are walking out the door. If the people who are successful are leaving what does that say about the company?

This is no longer a tech company. Senior management are not technical. Product Management drive everything, which isn't necessarily a bad idea, but they're not technical either (and why are there so many of them!).

Global Hosting: We're a software company, not a hardware company, so why do we continue to pretend we know how to host systems? Too often projects are stalled or even stopped because GHS won't, or more often don't know how, to support the required technology.

Continual drive to offshore/outsource jobs. This would be fine if you could leave the guys in India to get on with stuff, but either you have to hand-hold them through the work (sometimes line of code by line of code) or if you do leave them to it you end up rewriting it because they don't know what they're doing.

Pay is below average and management seem proud that that is the case. If you bring it up as an issue you're made to feel as if you're lucky to be working here.

US associates at all levels just don't 'get' International products or our customerbase.

    Advice to Management

Start treating the employees with a bit of respect. Nobody expects a job for life these days, so if there needs to be layoffs tell us and explain why - it'll still suck for the people let go, but at least the people left behind will understand and they'd respect you for the explanation.

    Stop offshoring/outsourcing - it's a false economy.

Start aggressively shrinking GHS and move to the cloud. Economically there's probably not much to be gained, but the improvement in our time to market and the quality of new products would be immense.

UK/International management: Stop listening to the US - they're not that smart and they don't understand our business.

Fairly large workload and change is a constant challenge

    Pros

Good benefits although these were inherited from Kerridge

    Cons

    New employees on reduced benefits
Lots of redundacies, whole departments have disappeared
Too much attention paid to big dividends for shareholders
Cut backs in all areas mean the customer is not getting the service they should
CDK live off the customers and products historically created under Kerridge

    Advice to Management

Wake up, cut the management speak, get rid of the overpaid CEO

    Pros

Can’t think of many, other than those brave associates who are willing to sit it out until they are no longer needed!

    Cons

Senior management in US who treat associates as a number, not a valued employment.

    Advice to Management

Customers, customers, customers - they pay your wages!
