I have been working at CIT full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Nice co-workers and good benefits.

    Cons

HR does not respond / intervene to address abusive management. Certain Managers/Directors in Pasadena have constant turn-over as a result of their heavy handed management style. Some supervisors resort to shouting at their staff, raises and promotions are few and far between, a few managers are clearly inept, take excessive vacations and are not around during "crunch times". There are obvious inefficiencies and... duplication of work just to keep some slower areas occupied with "busy work". CEO keeps the pressure to cut costs, meanwhile the company's stock is soaring and the corporation is exceeding analyts' expectations, the cost-cutting is dreadful, audits every year identify "dead weight" and staff cuts are always looming. Not a rosy place to be and not the highest caliber of people. But if you need a paycheck....go in with your eyes wide open.

    Advice to Management

You're sending the wrong message to the front-line employees. Treat your employees as though they are your greatest asset and you will see a return on investment that will survive long-term.

I have been working at CIT full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Many offices with opportunity to move if desired; Technology driven; Automation and systems are top notch; fast-paced and exciting environment; forward looking; good benefits; good customer products

    Cons

publicly traded and bank owned means many important decisions for the Divisions are not made at the Division level and out of the control of the team with the boots on the ground.

    Advice to Management

Don't let cost savings and expense control dominate the landscape to such a degree that employee retention is lost in the conversation. Making it too difficult to reward good employees throughout the year as needed will encourage those good team members to look outside the firm for advancement opportunities. Employee retention isn't just limited to compensation - continue to promote those good performing and long... term employees.

I have been working at CIT full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good location, good coworkers, and good benefits

    Cons

    Management and prision type enviornment.

    Advice to Management

Management could use some classes on how to manage and lead not just dictate. They should learn how to value their employees. If employees feel like they're valued they are more likely to show up to work and work harder. (For example American Express)

I have been working at CIT

    Pros

Chicago office is a friendly environment, centrally located near union station. Pay and benefits are good. Pay is based off of New York cost of living. Great location if you live in the city.

    Cons

Certain systems are outdated and without IT presence, conducting certain job related tasks takes up a lot more time than it should. Otherwise, have not had a negative experience.

    Advice to Management

With cost cutting initiatives they should really look into remote work platforms. Most job functions can be performed remotely and the cost of leasing an office in downtown Chicago appears to outweigh the benefit.
