    Great place to work with very smart people. Can work on very interesting projects.

    Communication and focus on big picture often missed. Too much focus on work process and not enough on engineering methodologies

    1. The company is committed to encourage all employees to have a healty balance between work and life. 2. It has a good awards and recognition to guarantee the benefits of the hard working employee. 3. People are very friendly. Colleagues are very supportive. 4. Free lunch! Overall, it's a pretty cool company to work for!

    Cons

    It's a medium size fabless semiconductor company. For people who want to do rotation in different groups, it might not be able to provide a wide range of choices for them. (but this is a common one for all small-medium semiconductor company, right?)

    Pros

    When I joined CSR in 2007 the company was flourishing, the Bluetooth market was expanding and CSR owned a significant chunk of the market share for peripheral devices. Since then there has been much change within the company and there's very little I can say that's good.

    Cons

    The management structure is a mess... As a software engineer in the audio development team there is currently 6 lines of management before you get to the CEO. There is a culture of blame within the company where middle management blame engineers for failing projects and misssed deadlines. During the project development lifecycle, there is no useful project management, the entire situation is a complete and utter... mess. As an engineer you are dictated to as opposed to consulted. You are simply considered a "company resource" and asked to swap between projects on a daily (and sometimes hourly) basis. It's a complete shambles. As an engineer, you work on CSR BlueCore hardware, which employs a XAP processor, which almost the complete opposite of industry standard. This trait follows right through the company, everything CSR uses is the opposite of industry standard. Working here for too long will effectively de-skill you as an engineer because everything is based around in-house software. The learning and development is non-existent, in 8 years I've been on three training courses provided by the company. The IS services is a joke, you have to wait months for your ancient laptop to be fixed, and even after being fixed it's still a fred flinstone of a machine.... The company policy states that a laptop (for a software engineer) is replaceable every 5 years!!!!! If you're lucky, they'll replace it after 3!
