I worked at Cambian Group full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Met some lifelong friends, actually made a slight difference to the YP I supported.

    Cons

Overworked, unappreciated, unachievable expectations, unsupported. You are expected to be everything for the children you look after (Parent, therapist, everything) all with minimal in house training and minimal therapeutic support from a qualified in house mental health professional. You are not supported through challenging times with children and when you have a serious incident and are assaulted you are expected to carry on your shift like normal. Budgets are cut at every opportunity to the detriment of people's emotional well being. Homes go months without necessary repairs due to the common phrase of "no money until April" , just to ensure shareholders get promised returns. Team morale is often low and staff turnover is ridiculous. Expectations are placed that if you are on shift and no one is available to relieve you then you have to carry on being on shift until someone does. Progression only works if your face fits, little bubbles form amongst staff members. I gave 5 years to supporting the young people i did and i did not feel valued as a team member from management at all and experience led to a great deal of stress, anxiety and massively knocked my professional confidence which is still being impacted 18 months after leaving. Pay is poor for expectations but opportunity is there to earn if you want to run yourself into the ground. That's even if they pay you right.

I worked at Cambian Group full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Your colleagues are really nice and support you.

    Cons

Attacked at work but no sick pay if your off due to injuries . This is not an educational setting, more like a semi secure unit - hours are long and pay is shocking!

I have been working at Cambian Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Firstly you get to help children with their everyday lives and that on its own is rewarding. They also provide you with your NVQ Level 3 in childcare and it’s a good place to work if you wish to progress in your career.

    Cons

Redeployment. I have been with the company over a year now and I have been redeployed 5/6 times for weeks at a time due to home closures. It can be very tiresome when you don’t have stability.

I have been working at Cambian Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I have been with Cambian for just under 2 years and changing my career to work with teenagers was the best thing that I ever did. Everyday is different and it’s not all sunshine and flowers as these children have emotional, behavioural and trauma needs but what they need is support, positive and happy role models to help them thrive. I have seen countless kids move on from us and have successful next steps which is the best part off the job and staying in contact and hearing of they’re success and happiness. I gave my self a 12 month goal to become a team leader and with the support of my managers and peers I smashed my goal in just 10 months! I am so grateful for the support from all of them.

    Cons

I have no cons towards Cambian!
