I worked at Cambridge Assessment full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Really interesting and dynamic work developing new qualifications and providing support for teachers. Amazing ambiance, great people to work with such an array of professionals.

    Cons

No real cons other than the difficult to getting to know others from different business streams due to the location of buildings. This will be solved by a move to the new building soon.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work.

I have been working at Cambridge Assessment full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

-The people who work here really make Cambridge Assessment great
-I've progressed through a number of roles at Cambridge Assessment after starting on the graduate scheme
-Flexible working has been an option for me
-Provide a high-quality service and are industry leaders

    Cons

-Slightly conservative and slow moving / traditional ( but we are an exam board)
-Very hierarchical (never been an issue for me but has for others)
-No parity across the organisation in terms of flexible working - so depends on your line manager
-Tendency to reward longevity rather than ability to perform within a role

    Advice to Management

    -Continue to innovate
-Leadership team needs to be more approachable
-Reward talent and those who work hard to retain good members of staff

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Cambridge Assessment full-time

    Pros

Company offers some good flexible working hours, and great canteen.

    Cons

Ingrained culture of bullying and aggressiveness, which makes it feels like you've stepped back in time. HR are aware but completely ineffective. Truly awful environment, only improved by some of the lovely people who work there. I now understand why they are always recruiting, because nobody wants to stay there long.

I have been working at Cambridge Assessment (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Diversity
    Opportunity for development
    Competitive Salary
    Focus on wellbeing
    fantastic HR team

    Cons

Big projects under-resourced and overfunded, wrong projects at the wrong times for the wrong reasons, some of the time.

    Advice to Management

Engagement is there- listen to teams instead of writing down what they say as a ticking box exercise.

I worked at Cambridge Assessment full-time

    Pros

Good people, discounted canteens, good variety of work

    Cons

Some Management have no idea about work life balance, scheduling additional "on call" or "Essential maintenance" during key dates in the year

I worked at Cambridge Assessment (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Stable company. Excellent colleagues. Mainly Cambridge based. Very local based. Workers are locals generally.

    Cons

A little old fashioned. Not very flexible. Flexible working on paper yes in practice very hard. Family friendly: on paper yes in practice it depends on the manager.

    Advice to Management

Move on to the present. Appreciate your workers and the talent they have. Trust and respect them more. Put family friendly measures in practice not just on paper.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Cambridge Assessment full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Really interesting work, an excellent team and lots of opportunity for professional development

    Cons

The hierarchical structure beats everyone who tries to deal with it. Attendance at decision-making meetings is dependent upon seniority, rather than knowledge and experience of the process. Innovation projects rarely get to completion.

    Advice to Management

Give all of your staff a voice and ensure that you listen and take action.
