      Pros

Working at Canadian Tire was an enjoyable experience as a teenager. It's a good job for first timers.

      Cons

As with all retail, you deal with the best and worst of today's society. Some days it seems everyone is in a good mood and vice versa.

Exciting work but always an overhanging shadow of staff cuts

      Pros

I joined the company at the exciting time when the company had recently signed some major sports partnerships which meant the whole company was galvanised around these partnerships and the upcoming winter Olympics.

      Cons

It seemed that the wider team was routinely culled, employees were 'let go' on a regular basis (very 2-3 months) it seemed the main motive for this was to keep the rest of the team on their toes.

      Cons

If you are converting from intern / co-op to full time or contractual position your salary wont be according to the market value.

      Great company to grow

Oct 20, 2021 - Senior Buyer in Calgary, AB

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Looks to support employees however, you need to prove yourself with no training. The lack of truly experienced buyers for retail in Calgary makes it an applicants market it if you are truly experienced. Wages in Calgary are unfortunately based on Eastern Canada rates.

      Cons

Lack of direction. Unclear of company focus. A pro or con depending on your desire to forge your own path while trying to delivering results in a surpressed environment.
