    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

I worked at Canadian Tire full-time

    Pros

Working at Canadian Tire was an enjoyable experience as a teenager. It's a good job for first timers.

    Cons

As with all retail, you deal with the best and worst of today's society. Some days it seems everyone is in a good mood and vice versa.

    I worked at Canadian Tire

    Pros

I joined the company at the exciting time when the company had recently signed some major sports partnerships which meant the whole company was galvanised around these partnerships and the upcoming winter Olympics.

    Cons

It seemed that the wider team was routinely culled, employees were 'let go' on a regular basis (very 2-3 months) it seemed the main motive for this was to keep the rest of the team on their toes.

I have been working at Canadian Tire full-time

    Pros

Everyone I've worked with is young and excited to learn. The culture is very friendly and casual. They really promote internal growth, and there are lots of opportunities to step up and learn.

    Cons

It is a corporate job, so a lot of the gripes and groans about how slowly things move, and how outdated the systems are definitely apply.

I have been working at Canadian Tire full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

-Positive, family-like culture -Great work-life balance -Lots of opportunities to move around between a wide range of functions -Increasingly progressive (leadership development programs, dress for your day, work-from-home once a week prior to COVID) -Inaugural Triangle Learning Academy program provides continued employee learning and development through speaker sessions, workshops, and access to online courseware

    Cons

-Total compensation can be lower at times -Hierarchical/bureaucratic + relationship-oriented culture can make it difficult to get things done without title or internal connections -Can be difficult to move up at times as there are no designated career progressions (you have to push your own agenda for a promotion or new role) -If you're working on the Canadian Tire Retail business it can be challenging at times working within a dealer business network as stores hold a lot of independence and collective decision-making power
