Pros

Industry exposure, extremely smart and hard-working colleagues

Cons

Demeaning verbal and written communication style from top management, no benefits, overworked workforce (continuous violation of WTR), borderline discriminatory narrative and exploitation of employees who are employed via a visa sponsorship, GDPR non-compliance (specifically personal data retention), withholding performance-based bonuses, no company sick pay, no perks, arbitrary performance reviews, internship exploitation, low salary (based on industry standards), elitism, favouritism. Oppressive, poor management. Partners do not listen to anyone. Staff have been telling them for the last 2 years how to improve, those who have tried to make positive changes had been bullied out of the company. Extremely high staff turnover which they justify by saying that they were either “not that smart” or “not very hard-working”. These employees have several master’s degrees, they are doctors and PhDs who work 60-70 hrs every week. Employees are expected to be available 24/7 and one of the Partners even emailed staff on boxing day to carry out tasks. There is a mandatory holiday period between Christmas and New Year’s, but the emails and messages did not stop. I was also regularly contacted on weekends to recruit for projects. Their communication style with staff members was disrespectful, erratic and condescending. Junior members of staff are made to feel inadequate and useless daily whilst senior members are blamed for all failures meanwhile, they had not been given the tools they had requested on so many occasions to deliver projects at a high standard. Yet, they still deliver. The company has been nominated for several awards in the last few years and have won. Staff has seen zero to very little reward for the hard work they had put into the Company's success. This has resulted in a (nearly) complete change of workforce in the last 2-3 years. The Partners are baffled as to why nobody wants to stay longer than 2 years (apart from those who are tied to them due to a visa sponsorship), the truth is that nobody feels appreciated. I read a lot of reviews on here and what most of them wrote, is sadly true. The positive ones either come from those who do not work for the Company on a regular basis, or they are fake. The Partners ask scholars and agency consultants and their own students to post positive reviews.

Pros

None that I can think except for some nice colleagues that run away after few months

Cons

I don't know where to start describing this toxic company. I sincerely regret joining Candesic as my first job as it ruined the idea of what a job should be. There are no processes, structure or any common sense on how things are being run. There are three partners that run the show, one that is rarely available, another who is money and self centred and the last is completely delusional. There is absolutely no regards on how to develop junior members of the team, other than a great effort from some of the managers in the company, no one really cares about training and growth. I feel sorry for managers as they are a bunch of smart people who genuinely want to make a difference but are not given a chance because of the partners micromanagement. I am still not sure how this firm is still operating. Projects are sold to clients by telling lies and inflating who is on the project (juniors become managers over night and on paper only). Everyone in the company is overworked and all projects are understaffed and then when the COVID came the game of musical chairs on who gets to be on furlough and who is not was just too much. I have so much more to write but I don't want it to sound like I am on a personal vendetta. I left on my own terms and I hope that anyone who ever thinks of joining this firm reads this and run!

Pros

Good learning experience, passionate and interesting managers, smart & nice co workers

Cons

Systematically understaffed projects which lead to very long hours. And this is not industry related, it is just the result of poor staffing and unwillingness to learn from previous mistakes. They expect you to work 60h pw and are against five minutes breaks. In addition, senior management is always expecting more from juniors that just got out of uni without training them properly. At some point the quality of reports gets impacted, and the blame is put on juniors. The company is not interested in investing in its team (proper trainings), focus on quality instead of being cheap. Partners have installed a toxic and oppressing work environment. Indeed, one partner is particularly focused on micromanaging, playing mind games on junior staff, and implementing a culture of bullying. Someone they can bully is more valued than someone that is actually good at his job The worst is that they hired good managers and COO that identified issues and reported it to them, they chose not to listen. Everyone that tries to make a change or speak up is either shut down or let go. The COVID crisis was poorly managed and resulted in almost everyone leaving the company. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this company to future applicants, this is no longer a good place to work and develop your skills. Don’t waste your time
