I have been working at Capco full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The people are great; pleasure to work with so many talented, hardworking people Strong focus on coaching and L&D Many community initiatives focused on staff mental health and well being Lots of opportunities to take part in CSR projects, as well as client work Good benefits

    Cons

Capco continue to work on building their female and BAME representation at senior level. It's not there yet but am hopeful it will become more balanced in time.

    Advice to Management

Remember to apply coaching approach when leading projects and not just with your coachees; it will lead to stronger people management.

I worked at Capco full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Compensation is decent enough, although probably at part with the bigger firms when all things considered If you're lukcy, you can get some decent FS exposure FS niche which supposed to be good, but the client base is very small. In essence there are better firms though out there with a bigger consulting client base

    Cons

Too many junior people promoted quickly because they know someone or are close to a partner Lack of knowledge on proper consulting work or what proper consultancy is all about Too much PMO related work Some long-term assignments feel like resource augmentation as oppose to consultancy or advisory Lack of big client list The picture sold is seldom what it actually is after you join Good projects managed by people...

    Advice to Management

Sack a load of the partners that have been there for a while and employ some decent people who know what consulting is all about if you want to compete in this space

I have been working at Capco full-time for more than a year

    Pros

At Capco Zurich there is a family-like culture and I personally like flat hierarchy as I can easily reach out to top management and discuss with them. Meritocracy environment gives the opportunity to excellent employees to grow fast within the company. Employees have an opportunity for an open discussion with the management and HR as there is the "open-door policy".

    Cons

The amount of employees is growing and the space still remains the same -it's limited. The good news is that reorganization of the office space is planned to be done soon.

    Advice to Management

The "open-door policy" can prevent potential problems and issues of the employees, therefore, it's very important to keep it.

I have been working at Capco full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Capco is a consulting company with a difference, 100% focused on financial services, deeper competency than all the Big 4 and similar, clients that know us really value us. Lots of interesting and transformative work in the digital and data analytics spaces. Capco is a less known brand name, but is usually much more highly valued than the competition by those who know us well. Culture is excellent - entrepreneurial,...

    Cons

Don't fall for the negative comments about staff augmentation. All large consulting firms do some staff aug, it's the nature of the business. Capco does many interesting projects, and some truly transformational ones. Work life balance can be a challenge, but depends largely on the client.

    Advice to Management

Spend more time with junior consultants to understand their issues and concerns. Communicate more about the state of the business

I have been working at Capco full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Capco is by now (late 2014) the largest global consulting firm in financial services, considering the number of consultants they have in FS (nearly 3000 globally, almost 1000 in North America) which is more than any of their competition (including the Big 4, Accenture, etc) once you strip out those other firms' non-FS practices and Services (ITO, BPO) etc. Capco has experienced 25-35% growth each year since 2010, and...

    Cons

The very rapid growth has caused some issues. Internal systems and admin are not the best, but management are working on it. The other issue is that they have taken on some client work that is not to everyone's taste, like testing or project execution without much chance for employees to shape the strategy. Some people like that kind of work, but others (like me) would rather work on making a real difference for...

    Advice to Management

Action the challenges faster. Especially after the Puerto Rico event, you have hugely inspired and motivated employees bursting with energy to come up with more innovation. You need to rapidly capitalize on this HUGE energy before it dissipates.
