I have been working at Capco full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Generally takes being a people business very seriously and understands its assets, what they want / need and how to fulfil them. Certainly they stand out from the consultancy crowd as a good place to work and much effort is placed into this facet of daily life at Capco

    Cons

“Proper” consultancy gigs are few and far between.... most gigs are resource augmentation and rarely take account of skill set rather ability to get the job done, The meritocracy rhetoric and approach to promotion is evident at lower grades but at senior levels your face has to be a) seen often in the office and be known and b) must fit politically else you stagnate. Client deliverables and hard work don’t bring promotion...

    Advice to Management

Don’t let the broadening D&I approach alienate the bigger community groups. Get the internal tooling and infrastructure updated. Don’t let go of the recognition and reward culture that built the company by allowing politics and “face fits” mentality to take over.

I have been working at Capco part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I have been working for Capco for 3 years and so far have had a great experience. The senior management team create a culture that is inclusive and supportive, and have maintained this even though the company is going through a huge growth spurt. Training is excellent and readily available. There is an active coaching community and the recognition process is fair and transparent. Projects I have worked on...

    Cons

As the company grows the existing performance management process is taking up a huge amount of resources and time to complete, and therefore needs to to be reviewed for streamlining where possible. I can already see improvements in this area however. Internal services such as technical support need to grow inline with the growth of the business in order to continue to adequately support.

    Advice to Management

Continue to maintain the Capco culture and celebrating success!

    Cons

Like any consultancy you have to manage and find the balance between your client work and internal work, which may be a challenge for some. Getting the work/life balance right can be a challenge initially.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing. Sessions where employees get to advise on the how to make Capco even better were a great idea, and I hope things like this continue going forward.

I worked at Capco full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Meritocratic environment, good salary and benefits, career progression for those with the right attitude. There isn't an "up or out" policy, which means that there are many experienced professionals to learn from.

    Cons

A degree of favouritism / clique, but less so as the company has grown. Rapid growth targets led to the hiring of less talented consultants.

    Advice to Management

Retain the people led nature of the company, rather than trying to emulate the big 4.

I have been working at Capco full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Quick promotion if you play the politics Great structute if the business is modelled as resource aug type work. Some clever and talented people but stuck in the wrong career slowing roles.

    Cons

Poor reputation for pure consulting work. Have had several senior clients ask me about Capco's bodyshop stature. They struggle to see the consulting value proposition but clearly see the cheaper (than market) resource aug vp - what's called as ChangeSourcing. Massive focus on billing and resource filling rather than competing for true 'forming future' type engagements. Lots of lone wolves staffed for months, even...
