I have been working at Capco full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Generally takes being a people business very seriously and understands its assets, what they want / need and how to fulfil them. Certainly they stand out from the consultancy crowd as a good place to work and much effort is placed into this facet of daily life at Capco

    Cons

“Proper” consultancy gigs are few and far between.... most gigs are resource augmentation and rarely take account of skill set rather ability to get the job done, The meritocracy rhetoric and approach to promotion is evident at lower grades but at senior levels your face has to be a) seen often in the office and be known and b) must fit politically else you stagnate. Client deliverables and hard work don’t bring promotion...

    Advice to Management

Don’t let the broadening D&I approach alienate the bigger community groups. Get the internal tooling and infrastructure updated. Don’t let go of the recognition and reward culture that built the company by allowing politics and “face fits” mentality to take over.

"Trying to compete with the big guys, but failing"

I worked at Capco full-time for more than a year

    Pros

If you need a good work life balance. This is the place to work. Had the flexibility to work from home... a lot!

    Cons

Business is trying to compete with the big consulting firms, yet the only way they win work is through undercutting consultant rates and doing “consulting” work that is in most cases just data entry. Data entry work is reframed and glorified as “consulting”. Don’t work here if you want to actually be challenged on a daily basis and learn and grow.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Capco full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The people there have good intentions and are friendly. Very big on mental health, very understanding with your own situation, need to ask for help if you need it

    Cons

The interesting work that is sold on arrival makes up about 5% of what there actually is. The workforce is negative because management is poor, little training, poor mentoring and coaching training, selfish interests in own career progression over the care of others

    Advice to Management

Allow consultants to be coaches because a good coach is not just someone more senior than you. The coaching needs to hold greater emphasis on mentoring rather than connections, coaches need to be held to account. Management need to give more time to their direct reports.

I have been working at Capco full-time

    Pros

Some great projects if you hold out for them, and reputation amongst clients overall very positive.

    Cons

    - For all the procedures and peer reviews in place for performance management, it's just lip service. Consistency of standard required to get promoted varies; too many Consultants promoted to Senior Consultants at year-end has led to message that there will be stricter quotas at mid-year promotion round. - Accounts do not use the admittedly robust and descriptive competency frameworks. - Being based in head office...

    Advice to Management
