    Pros

    Friendly, Easy and Varied

    Cons

Small member of a big team. Unfair competitiveness.

    Advice to Management

Value good consultants and not just those that are friends.

    Pros

Still probably the best corporate culture of the big SIs. Wide variety of work, although it's pot luck whether you get the project/client from hell or a decent assignment. Still some good people left.

    Cons

Now gradually abandoning core values under the price pressure from the IPPs. Attempts to become more consistent while growing to 200k people are leading to a more impersonal approach. You are more likely be treated as a "fungible resource" than a person.

    Advice to Management

Pay more than lip service to Serge Kampf's 7 values. Show more respect to your clients and your people. If you want premium margins you need to be selling a premium product.

I have been working at Capgemini full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good work/life balance, variety of choices if you want different challenges or career path.

    Cons

Large IT contractor working for large clients means no small amount of politics. Not as innovative as smaller organisations. Like many organisations they offer attractive salary to begin with but increments later on can be small.

    Advice to Management

    Generally doing a decent job

    Pros

Wide range of clients that you would have the opportunity to work at. Global organisation. Onsite there are a nice bunch of people to work with and you have a fair amount of flexibility to contribute your individual strengths

    Cons

Staff on site are sometimes forgotten about and they dont feel part of the team at the main Capgemini offices

    Advice to Management

Look after the staff on site, it sometimes feels like they are just another number

I have been working at Capgemini full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Diverse business and flexible working conditions.

    Cons

Complicated structure and trying to sell too many services - not specialising. The systems are also not as good as you might expect in a company of its size.

    Advice to Management

Reduce overheads and be more focused on the deals that are pursued.

    Pros

The people you work with and the genuine adherence to the company values which promote collaboration, the importance of maintaining a work-life balance and fun

    Cons

Not many local clients or much training on offer. Quite a top-heavy organisation with lots of dead wood, although conversely this makes it easier to stand out from the crowd

I worked at Capgemini full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

A relatively laid back atmosphere in the quieter moments.

There was some variety to the work.

Generally good, cordial working relationship with the clients made many interactions pleasant.

Access to employee discount with the client company.

Ability to buy extra holidays via flexible benefits package.

    Cons

Made to feel like a commodity that was easily replaced.

Unreliable staff were never dealt with meaning the reliable ones were constantly struggling to deal with issues of under-staffing.

Poor work/life balance - shifts were re-arranged so that everyone had to work extra weekends without any days off - 12 days of work without a break was the monthly rota.

Felt like yearly reviews were being deliberately talked down as justification to deny a pay rise or promotion - this was pretty much confirmed by an accidental email from a finance director that went to the whole company.

No recognition for achievement or for going above and beyond the call of duty - the management would get all the credit and rewards.

Promotion prospects seemed to depend on who you were friends with rather than any objective judgement of ability or achievement.

    Advice to Management

Don't treat staff as expendable or replaceable.

Be fairer with promotion and pay rises - especially when making record profits.

    Pros

Good projects and great to work internationally. Good people to work with - very supportive.

    Cons

Badly rewarded for working late hours and living on a hotel. Women not promoted equally.

    Advice to Management

Understand the value that women contribute
