I have been working at Capgemini full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good training, people generally friendly, corporate events are well run, can retain good people for decades

    Cons

The project pipeline in the UK is very poor, often you will not be able to work in the way you are trained to do as clients have poor working hygeine

    Advice to Management

Currently the core value is comfort, we chase large accounts but hate the way we are expected to work on them. Software engineers who are good don't stick around because the work is so boring.

    Pros

Good training opportunities, staff generally treated very well, decent management, good progression opportunities if you put the work in.

    Cons

Wages are generally quite low and below market rates.

    Advice to Management

Bring wages in line with market rates.

I have been working at Capgemini full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good technologists onshore and good training provided for all levels. Have some interesting projects to work on in all sectors

    Cons

There is a lot of emphasis placed on sales as you get more senior. There is a tendency to include lots of process in the sales bid which sometimes means loosing out on interesting projects and/or spending long periods involved in bidding process rather than delivery

    Advice to Management

Focus on quality delivery and strip unnecessary process from bids. Look after your good onshore staff and stop promoting offshore just to reduce cost where it also reduces quality

"World-class Drupal team, incompetent senior management"

I have been working at Capgemini full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The best technical and relaxed colleagues I've worked with. Most of them are Drupal Core contributors, the devops are have broad technical and great soft skills too. I would have a pint with any of them, any time.

    Cons

Incompetent senior management. Old guys, who stopped DOING and MAKING technology 20-30 years ago. They are talking about fancy keywords, such as cloud and big data without the technical knowledge to implement the current practices.
The salary is ok, but does not follow the change of the consumer price index and skill growth.
    Benefits spread unbalanced between staff.

    Advice to Management

Fire the architects, technical consultant, who can't write code. Fire the sales people, who don't understand agile and promise the Jupiter with his moons to the client. Fire the test managers, who can't write and review test automation scripts. Fire the BAs, who can't construct proper user stories. These people worth nothing for an IT company and you are managing an IT company for God sake!

I have been working at Capgemini full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Plenty of opportunities for challenges and learning as there is a lot of talented people in the company.

    Cons

Little training except for internal Capgemini courses. The appraisal and career management system is insane and takes way to much time. Salaries are on the low side, and do not expect to get a pay rise. So make sure you get the pay you want when you start!

    Advice to Management

Sort out the way too complicated performance management system, and start rewarding people by paying properly. After all, most of us work to make money for a living.
