You are asked to work the hours necessary to complete your duties but in the world of news/entertainment based social media, your duties are almost endless. You feel pressured to stay later to finish videos (in my case as a producer) due to unrealistic release times and the time you are given to work on a project. I would often work 12 or more hours a day on a very basic wage with no overtime pay. When I started it was all about numbers, constantly chasing for bigger numbers month on month. It would end up making you feel as if a great month of views would be down to you performing badly at your job if it was not better than the month before. During my time working at Car Throttle they shifted more to wanting high quality production rather than hitting big numbers month on month, this seemed to be light relief but then very little to no money was invested in expanding the team or getting in appropriate equipment to help grow the production level, then you would still be made to feel bad if you didn't get good numbers even if it was the best produced content you had made. Working here (especially as part of the production or social team) takes over your life, say goodbye to any social life you have or even messaging friends and family. You work non-stop all day for long hours and then you are left to eat, sleep and repeat. The experiences you have around the UK and the world DO NOT outweigh the costs to your health and social/family life.
