I have been working at Carestream Health full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Some good people and good products. Centre of excellence in good location. World wide presence. Innovative.

    Cons

Management clueless, focussing efforts in justifying their own positions, which has made the customer base very pessimistic and in trying to save money, have become very punitive relative to the 'benefits package' and do not appear to have any concept of work life balance. Too many closet accountants running service organisation by statistics which is contrary to any service offerings.

I worked at Carestream Health for more than 8 years

    Pros

    1) Pay is good comparable to other local companies. Benefits were good, but are being progressively stripped. 2) There is a small collective of high-performers that continue to do all that is necessary to drive the business and do the right thing. 3) (As a salaried employee) So as long as you are willing to regularly in excess of a 60 hour work week, you have the flexibility to construct/manage your work day.

    Cons

    1) Lack of transformative vision to save what's left of the business. 2) Change-driving projects, particularly in IT, rarely come to fruition due to 'Death by Analysis' by its principals. 3) Select R&D leadership is vacant and self-serving, with lack of innovative thought and positional insecurities that cause high-performers to exit the company. 4) There is a considerable gender and political pay gap, the correction of which may happen on a 1:1 basis, rather than based on performance merit. Personal observation was a peer doing similar work in an adjacent organization making in excess of $40k/yr more. There isn't pay-balancing/consistency, which sh/could be driven by standardization/harmonization of HR pay practices. 5) If you're determined and driven, expect to be 'worked to death' to make up for non-engaged employees, management that is focused intently on their bonuses (micromgt) and, notably, other good people/high-performers leaving the company. Our program and project managers for a major initiative left within a week of one another last year, and the project drags on because there is no leadership/passion behind it.

I have been working at Carestream Health full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good people, very talented. Great to learn from each other. Interesting projects. Good pay and benefits. Overall its been a positive experience.

    Cons

Not enough transparency. Management doesn't involve employees enough in decision making process. Too much "process", sometimes hard to get things done. Schedule is overvalued above doing the right thing sometimes.

I have been working at Carestream Health full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Great people, good products. Strong research and development teams. Carestream pays well. Aggressive sales and marketing. Getting stronger in the market

    Cons

Too many tasks to ask of one person. We usually lack qualified people to actually implement the products. Insurance is really bad. Executive leadership seems to be blind to the mistakes of mid level management.

I have been working at Carestream Health

    Pros

A lot of variety. A lot of good people to work with. Doing fun and interesting things. Good place to work.

    Cons

Forced ranking. Although I have never gotten a poor rating, a lot of people here have. Some may deserve it, but others didn't. Some people that get bad ratings are good employees, but because management must follow a curve, someones needs to get a bad rating simply because someone needs to get it.

I have been working at Carestream Health full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good people work here, lots of growth opportunity for both products and people. The digital x-ray systems are top quality and easy to sell. There is real potential for career development if you can tough it out long enough to get in a position to make some changes. Honestly, it's easy to come here and make quick improvement since things are such a disaster.

    Cons

LOTS of bureaucracy, antiquated processes, short sighted goals, bad decisions everywhere. No regard for anything except chasing revenue at the end of the month even if it means the company loses money on the deal. Too many people make a decision that is bad for the company or loses money, but it makes their report look good. Too few people doing too much work. Every department from top to bottom is understaffed, but it makes the reports look good!
