I worked at Carnival full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good location in Southampton, good discounts on cruises.

    Cons

I worked for 4 years in the IT department in Southampton. The place is in absolute tatters, environments and systems that are past their shelf life. Ill equipped teams and an absolute lack of resource being ran on a shoe string. The IT leadership team need to answer for they they've let this get to the state that it has. The systems aren't capable for the future and there's no strategy to manage this. Rewards go... to those who kick, scream and shout, while those that get work done get nothing in return - and often asked to do more work. If you work in IT and have been offered a position here, do not bother - you'll just be swallowed into promises of reward but nothing will happen. The rest of the business itself is fine - the business departments are very well looked after and this is clear when seeing the morale across the company. Unfortunately IT is about 6 figure salaries and benefitting a gentleman's club of contractors who work from home more than the full time permanent staff. Salaries are questionable and don't truly reflect the skill sets. Titles are an absolute farce and seem to be a tick box exercise for audit reviews. So many staff are sad, lost, looking for a change, or at least a promise of reward or change but nothing happens.

    Advice to Management

Invest in IT, invest in your staff, remove the dinosaurs that are out of their depth and have never worked with modern age technology.

I worked at Carnival full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Excellent atmosphere, great perks, premium events, stunning office in a commutable location.

    Cons

Long working hours, 1 in every 5 weeks you will need to work a 7 day straight shift pattern, there are little to no progression opportunites to other departments, which makes it pretty difficult to develop in other areas of your expertise.
