I worked at Caxton FX full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great place for a first job out of university. There are so many learning opportunities. Caxton FX is a results-driven business focusing on good customer service so if you put the effort in, think strategically, and pick up opportunities when they are in front of you, you will move up in the company. Plenty of incentives in place to promote work ethic. Lovely people, the work environment was always pleasant, very friendly, good team spirit, and after work activities were always fun.

    Cons

Make no mistake, this is largely a sales-driven business, so dont expect to be handed anything. Results are what matter in the end. Turnover of employees was generally high, but its not a place or industry for everyone.

I have been working at Caxton FX full-time for more than a year

    Pros

As Caxton like to shout about, you can tell people you work in the Gherkin

    Cons

Culture that it's acceptable to rip customers off to hit targets, employees are treated and spoken to like school children (and publicly shamed anytime a minor mistake is made). There's no trust from the leadership and no empowerment, even for Senior Managers, and as a result no-one wants to work there (hence the extremely high staff turnover and high number of people heading for the exits). Except for a few good people, it's a pretty miserable place to work. If you dream of going back to the 1980's then you may like it as there's not a laptop / mobile device in sight (ironic for a "FinTech") and flexible working is a taboo subject. And if you merely suggest ways to improve the culture, you'll be straight into the bad books. Little in the way of IT / product development ever takes place. Please don't make the same mistake I did - stay away!

I worked at Caxton FX full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Central london location, seeing first hand how a company can be failed (that is a invaluable experience in the future to see what NOT to do) , basic fintech company (invaluable if you have interest in fx and can not find any other fintech company to work for , it exposes you to basic finance as complicated as abacus)

    Cons

Micro management in IT, no career progression at all, blame culture (for things even not working and done by another staff), staff are not friendly and not experienced , there was a IT director once used to work there named Russell and he set everything properly with microservices and innovated the platform they have now but after his departure IT (trading platform) is set to fail dramatically as the remainers were just incapable , I have to admit that this husband and wife owned and managed company got lucky in the last decade where there was no monzo, revolut, transferwise, Bo (RBS online bank) but after these startup comes into the scene this business is redundant they live with their existing clients only, if you will work in this company make sure you plan the next step ahead and work here only if you do not have any other options, finance they do is as complicated as abacus and they try to survive with insurance product selling ( fx business trying to survive by insurance products is bewildering)
