I worked at Centrica full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The salary and work environment at the Head Office are good. There is a gym, an on site canteen and plenty of good people working there. It is exciting to work in a changing environment and if you get the right department / boss it's fantastic.

    Cons

The culture is on a downward spiral. Iain Conn's strategy to earn the right to win sounded cheesy but was right. Sadly, the execution had been poor and the increased pressure on management has resulted in poor leadership, even bullying in some areas.

    Advice to Management

Live by the values you have created. Review the organisational design again, remove the senior positions that should be redundant as they a re duplicated or not needed, reward lower level employees better and focus on the customer like British Gas used to.

I worked at Centrica full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Thanks to a really dedicated Graduate Team, Centrica offers a competitive grad program in the UK. The company benefits are better than average (flexible benefits scheme, work from home options, flexible hours, etc.) Highly recommended to those who want to start their career with a massive blue-chip organisation then Centrica

    Cons

People are leaving because of re-organisation. Contributions rarely get appreciated by the management team. Senior manager vacancies almost always get filled by external hires, meaning lack of growth opportunities within the company.

    Advice to Management

Please focus on one priority - you cannot cut the budget and demand a higher service performance at the same time!
