Pros

If you work there a long time, the vacation is great. The overall mission of the company is compelling. The CEO/owner has taken risks which have paid off and gotten the company to where it is today.

Cons

The office culture can be secretive and condescending. A number of people are not satisfied with their jobs. Compared to other office environments, this one can be draining. People tended to arrive at work late and leave late, which is a pro or con depending on where you are in your life.

Pros

The scope of work that they do is somewhat interesting, and the employees are good people to work with

Cons

The pros are drowned out by terrible management. Strategic decisions do not exist for the most part. The bid strategy was "bid on everything even if we can't do it" It leads to employees being overworked and very unhappy. Especially when you work on bids that don't end up getting submitted. Management always actively looked for someone else to blame when something didn't go to plan. Management treated employees very poorly and didn't value their time or their life outside of the office at all.

Worst company I have ever worked for.

Pros

The only pro was that my salary was negotiated to something I was comfortable taking when I accepted the position.

Cons

There is a serious lack of communication between the corporate office and the field. For me in particular, it was a painstaking process to get communication with my manager - who sat in his ivory town in Brooklyn Park and would only respond using his "assistant". I can only recall one time that he was quick to respond to a text after he would not return my calls with regards to an emergency. There is a constant "blame game" of who is responsible for what, and people do not want to take responsibility for their actions when something goes south. I also noticed a pattern of employees who took jobs away from home showing up and the package they received not matching what they were "promised". It seemed that the company was eager to get people down to the job, and would find themselves in positions where they could not uphold the promises made to fill those jobs with qualified candidates. For example, promising a 60 hour work week (6 days/10 hours per day), and then requiring 70+ hour work weeks (10+ hours per day, 7 days per week). The company also has a terrible tendency of changing policies and procedures on a regular basis with little to no communication with the satellite locations. Expectations are not clearly communicated.

While we can always get better, this employee was asked to leave for a variety of reasons. His/her months-long tenure did not afford enough scope or context to make a fair assessment of Ceres.
