I have been working at Change, grow, live full-time

    Pros

Staff at all levels care about their work and will pitch in to help the teams get stuff done. Plenty of training and CPD opportunities. Client-focused even when sector issues get in the way.

    Cons

High-pressure environment. This work is not meant for those who just want a regular 9-5! The upper layer of management is sometimes too reactive for their own good - you end up with added layers of governance and bureaucracy.

    Advice to Management

Make a point of fighting central government cuts publicly. You never know, you may change some people's minds and staff and service users will know you're going to bat for them.

I worked at Change, grow, live full-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

Competitive salary I was able to work as I wanted, because there was no-one more senior than me who knew how to do my job

    Cons

No compassion for employees - up to a certain pay grade everyone is viewed as disposable Sexist and old-school in approach, especially in the upper rungs Too busy jumping through commissioner hoops to be concerned with quality of service Feels like public/private sector, not a charity Some very poor leaders in supposed leadership positions Constant chopping and changing means no-one knows what they're doing Treat...

    Advice to Management

Diversify your management - it's all white blokes at the top. Treat your junior staff the way you'd like to be treated - nourish and grow them. Stop undercutting costs in order to win bids - that way you won't always be firefighting.

I have been working at Change, grow, live full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Try to be reasonable & easygoing

    Cons

Massive caseloads Unrealistic expectations (e.g. expecting staff to act like quasi social workers while not having any time to do any actual recovery work) Reactive - don't anticipate problems, try to deal with them on the fly

    Advice to Management

Stop promising commissioners you can deliver a real service for peanuts
