I worked at Charles River Development full-time

    Pros

    1. Good learning curve 2. People are knowledgeable (most of them) 3. Initial training is extensive.

    Cons

    1. Some highly unskilled people. 2. Some questionable movement of people within and across teams. 3. Benefits not upto par with the rest of industry. 4. People will snipe you every chance they get. 5. No career progression. 6. Company's reputation in the industry is going down due to past strategic decisions.

    Advice to Management

I would write something here but it is obvious they would not listen.

I worked at Charles River Development

    Pros

Decent pay, nice London offices in good location (good cycle parking and showers), overall a well respected brand and organisation with seemingly good prospects.

    Cons

Two or three people at the top call all the shots. It is privately owned by the CEO who takes a very active view on most areas of the business. Those who disagree (and are senior enough to be noticed) are fired or resign resulting in quite a high turnover of senior management in certain departments. This can be quite demoralising further down the chainn when the "reset" button is hit each year, and a new manager... comes in. It doesn't take advantage of the very clever and experienced people who are hired.

    Advice to Management

Trust the senior management you hire. Take their advice, and support them even when their suggestions are not how things have been done previously. Alternatively, make the limited scope for development clear at interview stage, to reduce management turnover.

I have been working at Charles River Development full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

wide exposure to market processes, investment classes good client facing experience, many clients finish work at 6pm occasional travel at client site Support team well run, good manager open communication on a technical level with other teams

    Cons

pay rises max 3% per year flat structure, no internal promotion, only to other teams option to move to Implementation team which means 100% travel at short notice (1+ year in a foreign city, not your choice) only 5 paid sick days per year only 20 days holiday when you join only minimum statutory maternity pay - minimum legal, they won't change that

    Advice to Management

Create more flexible roles bring benefits in line with the London market standards

I have been working at Charles River Development full-time

    Pros

Pay is in the high end for BA work and the experience you get with both order management and working as a consultant is great. Finally, it helps you build a great network in the front office world.

    Cons

No growth opportunities. Only 21 days of annual leave and max 5 sick days a year. Poor people management.

    Advice to Management

Train the managers. Improve the benefits.

I have been working at Charles River Development full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Charles River leads the field in the 1 stop shop OEMS space. Impressive client base. Quality of employees. A current and robust technical platform. CRD feels well positioned.

    Cons

Small company growing bigger. Company buy in closed even at director level (shares, options etc) Still very US-centric. Sites need to control their own P&L .
