I have been working at Chevron full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Excellent moving package if you are willing to completely uproot your home life, kids and spouse to move for more money. Good base salaries if you are willing to forget all ethics and be a "my way or the highway" supervisor or employee.

    Cons

The company advertises multiple career opportunities but then management or supervisors limit career growth for their departments and direct reports. Chevron brands themselves as a diverse and equal opportunity employer, yet supervisors do not preach what they say and will limit their employees in order to keep good people in their team instead of letting them excel in other job opportunities within the company. Many supervisors have a control issue. If you say one thing, they will make you do the opposite just so they can be right. I have heard from peers that the HR hotline number is useless, only creates more trouble and should never be used even though the company promotes the hotline. Inflexible work schedule. The company promotes work life balance yet the decisions rest in your supervisor's personnel interpretation of work life balance. No room for working remotely and your vacation plans are expected to be changed per the supervisor's request for internal fictitious corporate deadlines.

    Advice to Management

Practice what you preach. Allow employees to do cross-functional assignments and push employees to think outside of the box instead of doing it the same way since the beginning of time. The company as a whole acts like they value diversity, yet supervisors on an individual level do not promote innovation or creative thinking.

I worked at Chevron full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Great Benefits (401K, Pension, Healthcare Coverage, PTO) - You can build great relationships and need to in order to thrive at the company - Depending on your location within the company, there is room to grow in your career - They care about Diversity, ERG's are well equipped to provide employees with resources needed to excel in career

    Cons

    - Some areas of the company can stunt career growth, especially engineering - Office politics can affect performance - Inclusion piece of Diversity & Inclusion is lacking, leads to loss of great employees

    Advice to Management

Focus on development and growth opportunities for everyone, not just the favorites to retain great talent. Pay attention to the complaints provided about managers and how they can change for the better.

I worked at Chevron for less than a year

    Pros

Great coworkers that are eager to help you learn and grow as much as possible throughout the internship. The rest of the company is also very accessible with many intern tours available. Relocation was very easy and more than adequate to cover the cost of living.

    Cons

Management was slightly disorganized and slow to get things started.

    Advice to Management

Notify the team and prepare for the arrival of the intern.

I worked at Chevron for less than a year

    Pros

A good working environment, a massive company to learn about Engineering and the development of Energy, was in a wonderful team that was involved in an important project

    Cons

Limited interactions, difficult to engage in discourse that can help an intern learn first hand from employees, how the job is and what it entails

    Advice to Management

A tailored made plan for interns should be implemented

I have been working at Chevron full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Chevron offers great benefits and job security (relative to smaller petrotech companies). They are also generally pretty good about encouraging a healthy work-life balance, although some business units are better about it than others.

    Cons

Not the highest paying oil & gas operator by a long shot, and they make some questionable talent management decisions with their employees. Their execution of the performance review process seems to be inconsistent from BU to BU, and they advertise it as being more objective than it actually is.

    Advice to Management

Don't send hordes of employees with less than 3 years of experience overseas to manage your multi-billion-dollar projects, and you might see better project performance. Just a suggestion :)

Former Employee - Facilities Engineer in Jakarta

I worked at Chevron full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Highest salary for fresh graduate in my country. Comfortable and all-in camp. Very diverse colleagues.

    Cons

Too many politics inside the office. No development for fresher and reducing facilities due to low oil price.

    Advice to Management

Please appreciate each of employee's genuine talent and efforts.
