I worked at China Airlines full-time

    Pros

Unfortunately there are no real pros. If you are skilled and know your stuff do not waste your years in this company, no one cares.

    Cons

Awful management. Very little communication with management, and the little bit is unpleasant and inconclusive to say the least. No people skills whatsoever

    Former Employee - Flight Attendant

I worked at China Airlines full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

It's like working in a big family, people look out and care for each other. It was my first job out of university, I fulfilled my 3 year contract happily before moving on to another industry. If I were to stay in the airlines industry, this would be the company I want to stay with.

    Cons

It used to be fully government owned/operated, comparing with its long-time major/only domestic rival EVA , things get done less efficiently, and internationally in airline industry, the company ranks much lower than EVA.

I have been working at China Airlines full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    1. Accommodation during training period in Taiwan is Novotel so it is convenient. 2. Only a handful of really sincere seniors that are willing to help

    Cons

    1. **Body shaming is common here. If you look a bit tighter in your uniform to the point that it is obvious, you will be asked in front of other people how much you’ve gained and you will be directly compared to other skinny crews since beauty standard here is being super skinny. 2. Many mean and toxic seniors that are not willing to help you and show annoyance even when they know you are new to this job. These people pretend to be nice when they are around cabin managers but arrogant to juniors. I guess it is because all these factors have shaped them to be mean over years to survive this environment and it continues like this from generation to generation. 3. High level of hierarchy everywhere you go in the company. Old-style Asian working environment that doesn’t encourage acting or speaking up different ideas if they are against the seniors. 4. These kind of people together with the fact that this job requires traveling alone has caused a huge effect on mental health. 5. Ridiculously strict rules during training period
