I worked at Chubb full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

No reasons to work at this place. If you like a completely silent workplace then this is the place for you!

    Cons

    Not allowed to talk
    Very dated systems
Not allowed to make any changes or suggest them
Don't believe what is said at interview as most likely it will be completely different!
If they don't like you they are very sneaky and just get you out!
Certain people are protected and can do no wrong, iv had the worst possible experience working here!

    Advice to Management

Very very senior management need to see what the senior managers are doing and how they are treating their staff. As good hard working people who want to make changes for the better are getting chased out of the door and then getting kicked out.

I worked at Chubb full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice new offices, locations are good and easy to get to. The locations have lots of access to shops and food.

    Cons

Micromanagers that are extremely strict. Poor/ one way communication between managers and employees. Strongly encouraged to work overtime and weekends with no extra pay or rewards.

Sick and annual leave is culturally frowned upon. Coffee breaks and eating at your desk strongly disencouraged. Many privacy breaches, careless with procedures, poor and inconsistent training and no standardisation.

You are very much alone there, collaboration and discussions with team members frowned upon. Everyone is out for themselves. Numbers focused with little care for quality.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of your team leaders and get knew ones, start afresh. Be more flexible and consistent.

I worked at Chubb full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

We were in a newly remodeled building.
That is literally all the pros I could think of.
    Sorry not sorry.

    Cons

Working on an old Dos claims system. They have an imaging system that's separate. When the new system rolls out they'll still have two different systems.
    The work load is ridiculous.
The company focuses more on the client needs instead of the employee's needs.
It's a salaried position but they expect you to work 60+ hours a week to keep the client happy.
    Starting salary is low.

    Advice to Management

Pointless to give any because they will not listen.

I have been working at Chubb full-time

    Pros

There are no pros to this company.

    Cons

Do not work this company. Chubb does not care for their employees. The ceo won't even try to get to know his employees. He won't even share an elevator with his employee. Do not trust management, they are not looking out for you at all. They only think about how they can use you for what they need. Do not be tricked. They pretend like they care but they have hidden agendas. There is no work life balance. Please find a company where they are investing in their employees. Chubb is not one of they, you are replaceable to them.

    Advice to Management

Fired the baby boomers generation and hire better ones.

I worked at Chubb full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Absolutely None. Baltimore office had nothing positive going for it. Snobs.

    Cons

Absolute worst place I have ever worked. Unrealistic work load. More and more work piled on you that you could never get close to even being caught up or ahead. Underwriters demanded that you do all of their work for them. If you took even one day off, you would return at least a week or more back in the "hole." No work/life balance. Nasty, spiteful, berating Underwriters. Management made you feel useless and you could never do anything correctly, no matter how hard you tried. Favoritism. Never trust the managers. NEVER trust HR.

    Advice to Management

Get some managers who actually know what they're doing and will actually support their employees. Get rid of the slime ball managers. Try treating employees like human beings. Only concern seemed to be $ and trying to maintain the image that everything was so wonderful, when the place was actually crumbling around them.

    Pros

Used to be flexible work arrangements until ACE took that away.

    Cons

Management, including legacy Chubb managers, are generally only concerned about their careers.
Most managers got their jobs through dumb luck and aren't qualified for jobs outside the company.

    Advice to Management

Value legacy Chubb employees who made Chubb great!

I have been working at Chubb full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great company before being acquired by ACE. Good benefits, good employees, good work/life balance, centralized operations, good processes, customer focused, employee focused -even though salaries were not competitive.

    Cons

Culture and values, career opportunities, and trust in senior leadership are a hyperreality in this company and only exist in the delusional minds of those with C level titles.

Many employees cite the merger as having had a negative impact on the company’s culture and I have to profoundly agree. The merger resulted in numerous layoffs, cost cutting measures, and difficulty in maintaining work-life balance. Management doesn't respect or care about their employees because they only care about the bottom line.

Most of the seasoned venerable Chubb SVPs, VPs, AVPs, and key managers were constructively dismissed soon after Chubb's acquisition and we were left with mostly white male ACE management that lack knowledge and leadership although their resumes may appeal to some.

Recently, empty promotions were given out to AVPs and VPs to the next pay grade in an effort to keep them from leaving even though they may not be as experienced or qualified to do the job so one wonders why seasoned managers, AVPs, VPs, and SVPs were let go early on.

Overall, the facade looks good but the reality for those of us remaining is very grim.

    Advice to Management

"Speak only when you are spoken to" is the guidance provided to employees if we ever run into our new CEO - get real, he is not a god! You let go valuable personnel without good reason so listen to your remaining staff before is too late.

    Cons

Low oay. Boring work. No customer aervice. Need to write 5 emails and 7 phobes to get my separation certificate. Hopeless company.

    Advice to Management

Do they know what are doing.
