I have been working at Cleary Gottlieb full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Cleary is, overall, a good place to work. Work is generally complex and interesting. There are some fantastic senior lawyers - if you build relationships, they will mentor you and assist in your development. The offices are pretty good, too!

    Cons

Few that are not typical to this type of firm. The hours can be tough: but you knew that already!

I have been working at Cleary Gottlieb full-time

    Former Employee - Support

I worked at Cleary Gottlieb full-time

    Pros

Generally excellent, talented and committed attorneys and support staff

    Cons

Management no longer seem to care about the wellbeing and happiness of the employees. Profit above people, what was once a supportive environment has declined into a hostile and indifferent one. HR offering risible.

I worked at Cleary Gottlieb full-time for less than a year

    Pros

There are some lovely people who work there and the work is varied and keeps you busy, also a handy location for transport links.

    Cons

Ridiculous workloads and expectations, no assistance from management with any issues, the attitude is largely uncaring and not very social, no training or follow up to help you be the best you can be and the computer systems are lacking far behind the competition.

I have been working at Cleary Gottlieb full-time

    Pros

Pays well, provides coffee and canteen, each lawyer gets their own office, provides a good insight into the finance sector, moving to a new office soon.

    Cons

Enormous divide between fee earners and support staff, very old school with their approach of going to market and not really interested in pursuing new clients or new types of work, offices outside of the US basically operate as a satellite office to support the US hub.
