    Pros

Supportive, friendly and fun team environment. Nice office facilities eg onsite staff gym, bar and café.

    Cons

Slow, unclear development prospects - NB this is very different from solicitors where promotion and development path is much clearer.

I worked at Clifford Chance full-time

    Pros

A prestigious firm, a world-leading brand with many bright staff and partners. Good staff benefits e.g healthcare, pension, restaurant, gym with a pool. Reasonable flexibility wrt home working. There is a good outreach programme and the legal firm leadership generally have good intentions wrt to inclusivity and staff.

    Cons

Line management in business services, IT in particular, very patchy; some quite good but in many cases soul destroyingly crass and inconsistent. There are a few really good managers who have managed to adapt to a culture where there is very little trust. Politics, the fear being made a scape-goat and the lack of management support for staff mean that colleagues are reluctant to raise issues and concerns to their superiors. There is the currently ubiquitous stream of Business Transformation/Collaboration BS that is nothing new and actually relates to cost-cutting in all its forms. Business services is a poor relation to legal services especially when viewed from the practice areas. The appraisal process is awful, subjective, lengthy and adds to the feeling of mistrust.

    Advice to Management

Hire effective and trustworthy staff. Give them clear and sensible direction, allow them to do their jobs and trust them, support them and stand by them; even good people make mistakes.

I have been working at Clifford Chance full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Good office location
    Big name in law firms

    Cons

Bunch of folks have no clue what and why they are working with CC. This you would find most in IT teams. All they do is pass time with senior lawyers and save their jobs .

    Advice to Management

Reduce the extra fat, people who are not good or responsible remove them. You would end up having an elephant. Middle-level managers are useless
