I have been working at Co-op full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Flexible working, Size and scope of opportunity, Reward package, City centre office location, Annual Incentivised Payment (Bonus) scheme

    Cons

Lean people structure makes for high pressured and fast-paced environment that can sometimes overwhelm, Legacy infrastructure and IT systems need a drastic overhaul (in progress), Flat structure means traditional (line management) progression is difficult to achieve

    Advice to Management

Empire-building is counterproductive. Stay true to Co-op and co-operate with one another to forge new opportunities for rising stars.

I have been working at Co-op full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Life work app holidays. Customers are friendly. If you dislike your family it's a great place to be as you'll work 48 hrs+ Theres a limited amount of pros, if anything at all.

    Cons

Same discount as students Getting called in on your holiday Back to back working, finish at 10, and open at 5am. Expected to complete the work of 3 people. No training. No breaks. Culture of if your face fits then your welcome. Very much a club if who you know, if your not within a certain club dont expect to get promoted. If your a women you will be paid less that a Male counter part for the same job if they can (and they will) get away with it. Ethics is a selling point to the customer and not practiced within stores. All effective/good managers are leaving, be warned this is not a mental health caring job.

    Advice to Management

Stop reducing the amount of hours within store it's close to breaking point. Stop expecting staff to work through there breaks. Pay people fairly. Move into the 21st century and understand equal opportunitys. Create a real training structure and dont blame people for no knowing when they havent been shown.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Co-op full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Sense of family at store level

    Cons

The sense of family is caused by having to band together to produce results because the company does all it can to every single penny that can be scrounged from saving on personnel.

I have been working at Co-op full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

As a company they really care about their employees and there are great opportunities for those who want to progress and also for those who just want to expand their skillset.

    Cons

You can't choose your manager and unfortunately its the higher ups that decide your progression. the path isn't always clear on what your options are if there is someone standing in the way of your career.

    Advice to Management

Be kind, Be fair. If you never have intentions of letting your team progress tell them, don't give false hope.
