      Great working environment

      Pros

The company seems to be constantly improving, the current CEO is a really nice guy who is taking things in the right direction. Location is rural, but there's a free bus, and in the summer it's nice to go for a wander around the grounds at lunchtime. On site gym is amazing. Canteen is fantastic and can cater for dietary requirements. Good bonus scheme. Flexi time is brilliant.

      Cons

As with any large company there's a few people who don't pull their weight enough, but the majority of staff are hard working and passionate about the games.

Great place to work with some truly talented, passionate people!

      Pros

Great, passionate people to work with. Awesome place to start your career. Free fruit and well stocked canteen/coffee machine facilities. Brilliant support staff and flexi-time bonus helps maintain a good work/life balance.

      Cons

Communication from upstairs can be a little half-hearted, often feels like they are keeping you out of the loop on purpose. Wages are okay but job security is always a concern at a certain time of year. Tough to progress unless you make friends with people upstairs, sometimes feel more like a "who you know" rather than "what you know" mentality.

      Could do a lot better

      Pros

+ Free gym, milk and fruit + Separate room dedicated to quiet space + Relaxed atmosphere + Most people are very nice + Onsite canteen and pub + Flexi-time

      Cons

      - The annual salary is an absolute joke compared to the equivalent role at other games companies - Bonuses are pathetic - Career progression is slow almost to the point of being non-existent - Lack of formal training (management training, Excel training, First Aid etc.) - Executive management is just an overpaid old boy's club - QA is treated as the runt of the litter. We have to scrounge for game merch (but you can bet the canteen staff will get free tshirts no problem!) - Codies will always cheap out on the Christmas parties and release day events. If you think there's gonna be a summer party (like at other companies), forget it - Bad QA temps are not let go when they're clearly a waste of space - If you get in before 8am you can't count that as worked time in QA. This does not apply to the rest of the company

      Pros

On the whole, great staff and a real sense of community within the work place. Very nice studio with free gym and a decent canteen. Flexi-time is good and being able to take a reasonable break every hour or so when you like feels healthy and is good for morale. Senior members of staff are approachable and helpful and work hard to set a good example.

      Cons

I've seen instances of a senior member of staff seeming to have an agenda against certain individuals and being unwilling to deal with it when challenged which seemed somewhat petty and unprofessional. This is rare but concerning enough that I've heard others discussing it. The pay is also not great considering the studio is in the middle of nowhere and you need to run a car or bike to be able to get to and from work (the minbus from Leamington Spa is always full).

A lot has improved, but a lot more needs to be done.

      Pros

I worked within the QA department for the period of six months. It has several benefits; 1. Great for beginners looking to get into the industry. 2. Gym and Canteen facilities on sight. 3. Friendly Staff 4. Flexi-time is fantastic.

      Cons

      1. Next to Minimum Wage 2. Long Hours 3. Situated in the middle of the countryside, Codemasters Southam requires public transport or companies own bus from Leamington. Both of which have been unreliable numerous times. 4. Rolling 3 month contracts make it hard to settle down or relocate for the role. 5. Senior staff can be rude and condescending. Not sure whether this is because of their permanent contracts or mentality to temps. 6. Project planning goes to a mess as management gives no input or guidance. 7. Work as QA is autonomous rather than working openly with other testers or departments.

      A great place to work

      Pros

At the Southam Branch you have access to on site gym If you are current employee at the time of a game release you get a PC and either XboxOne / Ps4 copies of it. Colleagues are generally pleasant to work with. Good place to start in games. Flexi-time work scheduling.

      Cons

Mainly hiring Senior staff members (3-5 years exp) Majority of lower end jobs are on a fixed term contract with no guarantee of permanent position. (Fixed term contracts aren't long enough for you to meet requirements of senior positions. ) Childcare/cycle to work and other schemes like them are only for permanent staff

      Cons

Lack of relevant communication between departments and a feeling of lack change between releases

      Could be great!

      Pros

Great facilities, good colleagues, some great games being produced. Fantastic salary (almost too good!) and wonderful flexi time system. Has great values at it's core, they just need to be brought forth again.

      Cons

Poor management, lack of strong leadership, too much stripping resource out of teams and not hiring in the right places.
