Pros

Flexible work hours means the ability to run errands, take walks, or give yourself breaks. Leadership trusts you to get your work done, when the time works for you and that is what is most important. Time & stipends provided for professional development, which can be used on things like AWS certifications, attending conferences or Udemy courses. Flexible PTO, and encouragement from management to use it. Nature of consulting means exposure to new and emerging technologies. Truly on the front line of experiencing what the industry is doing. Volunteer culture encouraged, with twice yearly volunteer days hosted and made available to employees. Happy hours and gaming activities hosted monthly Flexible work from home policy and nice office space if you'd rather be in an office. Small company vibe means you have much more opportunities to step into roles and sway company direction. New office space at the Catalyst Building should be super cool!

Cons

Nature of consulting means sometimes dealing with client developers/project manager's who are unpleasant to work with. Small attendance in office, partnered with high number of remote employees and owners can make it difficult to connect on a human level with coworkers. Some client projects are more desirable than others, and can be disappointing if you end up on a bad one. Company has tripled in size in 5 years (from 10 to 30 employees). That is accompanied with growing pains. These are to be expected, but also clearly present. Heavy emphasis on hiring out of college, so the company is thin in it's middle ranks of experience. Hiring diversity has suffered due to a rush to hire as many good engineers as possible

Thank you for your review of Commerce Architects. The advice on what types of people to hire, and a request to emphasize diversity in hiring are both great suggestions. We have been growing quickly, and you are correct that we have experienced a few speed bumps along the way. We remain focused on creating the best work environment for our employees as possible and will continue to try to add to that list of “Pros”!

Pros

- Leadership is mainly composed of software developers and are great at setting realistic and manageable expectations with clients. - Fosters a culture of helping each other and knowledge sharing. Everyone is willing to help each other out. - Leadership treats us like people and are understanding when life happens. - The cliché of 'Work Hard Play Hard' is very much emphasized where we give our all during working hours but are not expected at all to be available outside of hours (unless on-call for pagerduty). Company hosted happy-hours and parties are always fun. - Multiple opportunities to work on various technologies to expand one's own knowledge. i.e. you never run out of ways to challenge yourself. - Flexibility to work from home or from the office. - Generally flexible working hours depending on the client. - Partners are generally great to work with. Their decades of consulting experience result in fulfilling discourse with regards to technical decisions and people management.

Cons

- Clients can be difficult to work with, though leadership usually provides good advice on how to handle situations.

Thank you for your review of Commerce Architects. We embrace our core value of “Employees Are Our Greatest Asset”, and you hit on some of the key tactics we use to try to keep employees happy. Work life balance, opportunities to celebrate and connect at happy hours, a flexible work environment, and a culture of candid and open communication are all part of the plan. We realize that consulting has a host of non-technical problems to solve, and we are continually improving our training on this topic. Please feel free to share any suggestions for working through difficult situations so we can all get better.

Pros

Working at Commerce Architects is a blessing! I'm surrounded by people that care, and have enabled me to learn and grow as a Software Engineer. Setting aside a few hours a week for personal career development is encouraged. The people within this company are very friendly, helpful and highly motivated to do great work. There is a culture of sharing knowledge, mentoring, and helping others to learn and succeed in their roles. Management is kind, thoughtful, and are always looking for feedback on ways that they can further improve. From surprising us with wool blankets embroidered with our company logo, to sending us desktop vacuum cleaners (I did not know such a device existed), it is clear that they care very deeply about making their employees feel happy and appreciated. The work from home and flexible time off policies are great.

Cons

As with any consulting job, it can be stressful at times.
