      NO ANNUAL REVIEW (no opportunity to raise salary every year). Was not communicated during the hiring process. No work-life balance, long hours

      Pros

      The project is massively impactful, long overdue. If it succeeds. Good opportunity to learn valuable niche skills that can be applied elsewhere Ok base salary.

      Cons

      Has outgrown its academic roots and ethos. Management is now turning towards Musk-ite platitudes to make up lost ground due to mismanagement Strong disconnect between management and employees. The absolute worst healthcare plan I have ever had to deal with. Saturdays off are now optional at Management's discretion No Raises

      Pros

      Commonwealth Fusion Systems is working towards an incredible mission and could very plausibly change the world for the better. It's an inspiring place to be, and you get to work on some amazing technical problems. The team is top-notch, and the incredibly talented people are also very pleasant to work with.

      Cons

      Commonwealth Fusion Systems has continuously made decisions to marginalize their employees for the sake of the mission. On the one hand, they have limited resources to do something very audacious, so I understand the temptation to increase hours, withhold raises (despite high inflation), and add more work to everyone's plate than could possibly get done. On the other hand, the senior leadership needs to realize their mission cannot be completed without their people, and they need to take steps to keep their employees happy or they will continue to lose talent.
